Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is just walking, as swimming is forbidden. Probably sunset is the big attraction with ships passing through the harbour entrance. Above and behind you is the old British Consulate and opposite is the old fort and lighthouse. The recent drought means much of the greenery has died, but there is still some attraction here.

Hi everyone! I am a Taiwanese and I live in Kaohsiung for 20 years, I want to commend Xiziwan to you to come here watching the beautiful sunset here. You can walk into the Sun Yat-sen University, and go to the beach which is in the school! Because the school is beside the Kaohsiung harbor, when you sitting on the beach to watching the sunset, you will see the boat exits the harbor. Kaohsiung's weather is nice and the sky is very clear, so you always can see the beautiful scenery here!!! Welcome to Kaohsiung!!!

To get to Xiziwan, take the Kaohsiung subway to Xiziwan station. Exit from Exit 1, cross the road, and make your way to an inconspicuous bus stop. From there, take mini bus 1A. Alight after 4 stops or when you see the sea on your left.

The sunset during spring time is around 6pm, so be sure to give enough time for travelling and waiting for the mini bus which could take around 15 minutes. But it is a nice spot for catching the sunset in this Taiwanese city along with the beauty of enjoying the cool breeze.

You may encounter crowds of tourists and locals/ couples in this place who come for the same purpose to catch the sunset or to take an evening stroll, but this area is big enough so you feel you have space and are not necessarily crowded out.

People are complaining about the tourists, but they are probably tourists themselves! And are making the place more crowded than before they were there!

Ok, there is not many things to see in Xiziwan, and it is crowded (specially, Chinese tourists...), although you can see a very beautiful sunsrt from there.

Xiziwan is a beautiful seaside walk in Kaohsiung. From Xiziwan light rail station, it is easily accessible by bus. But you can also walk by passing ferry pier and ancient British consulate. That I did. People say that the best time to visit Xiziwan is the time of twilight. But during the day, the combination of blue sky and blue ocean is also impressive.

my airbnb host urged me to view the sunset at the beach within the university.

but i was pretty blur did not know how to make my way there. so i ended up admiring the sunset at the bay.

sunset is pretty breathtaking. it is very very breezy over there as well. take good care of your eyes while admriing the sunset (not good to get cataract from direct exposure to the sun for too long).

buskers will be performing by the bay as well. there is a podium for folks to sit on while enjoying the music.

there is a convenience shop and toilet by the bay as well.

Small seaside town where the British had their first Consulate in Taiwan. This is the only part that I felt that gave some value to the visit.

Small shops with eateries and tourist to spend some monies and time to wonder around. Apart from that, nothing too much.
