Tea fields planted in steps, with a mountain of verdant tea gardens, are a characteristic and unique sight of Pinglin. The Pinglin Tea Museum Periodically hosts various tea-related theme displays alongside exhibitions, experience showrooms, tea art classrooms and other spaces for introduction of the tea industry with its domestic and foreign culture to tourists. Pinglin Old Street preserved the most down to earth appearance of its hundred year history, including its old stone houses and traditional mom and pop stores. The well known Shenkeng Old Street is famous not only for stinky tofu delicacy but also “four Shenkang specialties”, green bamboo shoots, black pig pork, white tofu, and pouchong tea, planting the delectable image of Shenkang Old Street deep in one's mind. The unique “stilt houses” architecture can only be seen in Shiding, developed by locals to solve the problem of limited spacings. Well known souvenirs blend local features into handmade noodles, combining tea fragrance into noodles and adding new flavors to a traditional taste.

Visited this place on 17 Sept 2015. We took bus 923 from Xindian MRT station, the bus journey is about 30min. I also heard from locals that bus G12 can also reach Pinglin but since it does not uses the highway, the journey will take 1 hour instead.
Ping Lin Tea Museum is newly renovated and reopened in Aug 2015. Admission is free when I visited. They have interactive and multimedia exhibit spots such as hands-on on how to wrap Bao Zhong Tea, touch and feel the various kinds of tea leaves etc.
Right beside and behind the museum are some small plot of tea plantations and also a little hill that overlook the Pinglin Town. There are also more hiking route in the mountains for those with stamina and a adventous heart to explore further.
Pinglin is a nice quiet little town which is stark contrast from the touristy Shifen town now. Do try their local Pinglin Tea ice-cream from any store in town, it is quite nice!

Small funny museum about tea. A lot of interaction and AR makes it interesting especially for kids. There is a lot of information also in English. The staff is friendly and very helpful, but don’t expect them to speak English though. There is even a relaxing garden with tea-trees. The price is reasonable but be aware that the museum is discriminating against foreign seniors and children and charge full price instead of free admission. Full price is $80 so it’s more the feeling of it. If around you should go here, a taxi from Taipei is approximately $1000.

We were brought here as part of a tour. Had we not been on a tour, we never would've come here.
The only section somewhat worth seeing is the first section as you enter. The rest of the museum is basically little kids stuff.
Our guide told us we would be seeing a tea drying demonstration here, but we never did.
Unless you booked your visit as part of a tour, don't waste you money on this place. A museum like this should be free. Hard to believe this is the world's largest tea museum, as there is almost nothing in it.

The museum is quite small but the staff is very friendly and most of the information is translated to English. There are some interactive activities but we were a bit disappointed that they didn't have any tea samples that you could try (but there's a lot of that in the old street). Behind the museum is a small tea plantage and a garden you can enjoy.

We joined a small group of nine people including a tour guide to a tea farm tour that took around 5 hours to complete. We went to the Pinglin Tea Plantation in New Taipei to visit a tea farm, have some tea tasting, visit a tea museum and have a quick view of a lake scenery. Fee was NT1,500 per adult. Road going to the farm was winding as it goes on a zigzag & might make one feel dizzy. Once at the farm, tourists will be given an egg dipped in Oolong tea and some nougat candies. The small tea museum was okay but more perhaps for a true blue tea lover to appreciate. Scenery was relaxing. Overall experience was on the average.

It’s all about tea and done on a very modern and appealing way. Good interaction games and very informative history about the tea.
Easy to view and do drop by the tea shop afterwards. Really lovely souvenir opportunities.

This is a place where you get to know the history of tea. Wide range of exhibits to view in this Museum. Entrance fee reasonable.

There are animations to understand Taiwanese tea culture, lack of introduction to foreign languages.Suitable for the whole family to enjoy, the environment is comfortable.

Good exhibits about basics of tea and the tea industry & history in Taiwan. A lot of information which is tea specific. If you are not interested in tea, do not go.
