We came with high expectation as I’d seen it featured a lot in travel videos. We went on a weekend so the place was packed. There is a mix of food and merchandise vendors. Lots of smells and colours . We tried a few dishes but didn’t really come away in awe. Nothing we hadnt seen or sampled in other markets.

A smaller night market and not as famous as other tourist night markets, but authentic and frequented mostly by locals. The focus is on food stalls. Our favorite was a type of crepe filled with vegetables (vegetarian) and freshly made on the stove top and also very cheap. This stand was unique and stood out from the rest of the offer, which was partly franchising and could be found at all night markets in Taiwan. A visit is worthwhile in any case. We took a cab from the hotel to the market, but for the return trip it was quite difficult to get a cab. But there are also local buses that leave near the market.

Shilin is apparently the main one and biggest one, but I preferred this. This is one of the oldest night markets I believe in Taipei. Raohe Street Night Market had a nicer atmosphere, it was less crowded and there was more variety of food to feast your eyes on. By variety I don't mean more stalls but more options. Shilin became a little repetitive. Easier to navigate and not as big as Shilin. Vendors are very friendly and nice. If you are Muslim like me or vegetarian, make it clear as a lot of the items contain pork. Go with an empty stomach and small change! Shilin had a lot of clothing stalls as well and places where you could play games. Here there were a few places you could play games and shops where you can buy gifts. I went around 19:30 on a Wednesday evening. I believe weekends are really packed. Walk, eat and enjoy. Taiwan is very safe but as you are tightly packed with loads of people, like anywhere just mind your bag. Clean.

One of the more interesting night markets in the city, with lots of good eats, including several Michelin gourmand stalls. The black pepper beef buns are the most popular, with long queues that go pretty quickly. The buns cost $60 each and are delish. You should also try stinky tofu, shaved peanut ice cream, sesame oil chicken and oyster vermicelli

Packed shoulder to shoulder on a Saturday night. If you’re there for the night market vibes and complete lack of personal space, this is the place for you. Having said that, food is alright but the darts and fishing games stalls are double/four times the price at Shilin. Good thing: a row of taxis awaits at the starting entrance after a night of walking.

Before we went to Taipei, i asked myself 'if i were to only choose 1 night market, which one will i choose?'. I have read lots of blogs and reviews, and finally we went to this Raohe night market. another top night market on the list was Shilin's. People were saying that Shilin is more touristy and Raohe is more for the locals. I could not make any comments on that as i've only been to Raohe. we tried taro ball, and it's suprisingly yummy!! very cheap of 10-12 balls for 50NTD. it's crispy outside and soft and chewy inside.

Stop at the songshan station last stop on the green line and exit following the signs in the train station . Must try the pepper buns - First stall near the entrance to the night market - you cannot miss it - long queue always . A good market to try the street food

The Raohe Street Night Market is the most popular in Taipei, so it will always be crowded and hectic. However, that's part of the charm. It's like impulse buying, but with food. You might have your faves, but for folks unfamiliar with it, it is such a fun experience walking along the long street of stalls and impulse buying what looked delicious. For me, that was the beef cubes, squid, and dumplings. There will definitely be something for everyone. I've never had a miss here. You can also play games and win prizes and buy clothes in between bites. We found a few gems and souvenirs here and there. We took the MRT to Songshan station. From there, just follow the signs (and the people)!

My wife and I enjoyed our visit a lot. We went on a Tuesday night and the place was quite crowded. I imagine it gets really packed on weekends. We had the famous pepper buns that are at the beginning of the market. The line wasn’t bad and they were delicious. We sampled a number of other dishes - most were very good although some were a little plain. Lots of options though. Half the fun is the experience- it’s a high energy place with lots going on. We took a nonstop subway train from Taipe station - very easy and quick. The Ciyou Temple is near the entrance to the market and is worth a quick visit. I would rate this a “must see” for Taipei.

Raohe Night Market is a must-see for Taiwan tourists. Arrive early at 5 PM to get ahead of the crowd. If you see a long queue to a food stall, trust that the food is worth the wait. Although the street is a bit shorter compared to Shilin, it still offers great selections to suit every person’s taste.”
