Waiao is a great day excursion from Taipei city. I took a train from Taipei main station and the journey is about 1.5 hours. You don't need to buy tickets in advance. Upon arrival at Waiao train station, just cross the road and you will...More

- nice black sand (can be very hot) - nice surf spot (for beginners, easy to rent boards etc - except for kite equipment) - funny to see the hard life of the beginners :-) - perfect day trip from Taipei, when you want to...More

Highly recommended for surfers, swimmers and beach bum or anyone loves going to the beach. I was in awe when I saw the bluish sea and volcanic sand. This beach is a hidden gem, just a handful of tourists and mostly are locals. No difficulty...More

I have lived two years in front of that beach. It was paradise like. The beach is large, clean and beautiful. I agree that it's not always 100% clean, but which beach on earth is always 100% clean? - The answer is simple: none! There...More

What's more, it is the beach where maritime sport enthusiasts gather- parasailing, boogie boarding, surfing...There's just...More

It’s a very huge expanse of black sand and a longish walk to the sea. The waves were quite high and there were a few surfers even on a wet winter day. You can use the open shower for 20NT so keep some coins handy.

I'm not sure why so many people have good things to say about this beach. First of all, most of it is closed off to swimming and surfing. The part that is open is filled to the brim with people sitting on surf boards even...More

A relaxed stroll along this compact black sand beach is rejuvenating. The serenity of the clear skies married with the soothing splashes of the waves makes this beach worth a visit. 30 minutes is enough to appreciate this site.
