    Bitter gourd juice
This is our third trip to Taiwan and all three involves ximending. There are so many things to do here, watch street performances, shopping, street food, proper restaurants, claw machines. Right at the northern entrance to this place, there is a stall selling bitter gourd juice. For those brave enough, it is actually quite good. Come and try it.

    Lively night market!
Can’t miss this lively night market! I would recommend coming from 630 to 7pm onwards to see the market in full swing. Ximending sells your typical street food carts, along with many restaurants and small shops selling souvenirs. I prefer this to Raohe market.

    Worth a visit at night
Very popular area best visited from around 6pm. I assumed some streets become pedestrian only. Hundreds of shops around the area to suit all budgets. Everything is modern looking with all the neon lights to go with it. The night I visited it was very busy but I suspect it's busy every night. Certainly worth grabbing a bite to eat and having a walk around.

    What you expect! Asia nights.
This is Asia.  You know the drill, bright lights, shops, food, entertainment, neon billboards and loads of people.  Great atmosphere with buskers playing music and all sorts of things going on. There are High Street names like H&M to traditional shops, food stalls and more. So much going on. A mix of everything!

Wanhua is the Kingdom of Youth
Ximending is the Kingdom of Youth. The area is known as "West Gate." It's a favorite area for young people to hang out, especially students. There are lots of cheap eateries, and transport on the MRT is convenient. Ximending adjoins the Wanhua district, one of the oldest areas of Taipei. You can wander around for hours, there's lots to see and do.

    Shopping and Eating Bonanza
Great place to stroll and shop. Taiwanese souvenirs and global fashion brands beckon. Lots of things to do. Needed a half day itinerary at least. Taiwanese classics made popular , such as the milk tea , fried chicken and hand pulled noodles are not to be missed . Only drawback was that it was a struggle to finding public restrooms.

Get to everywhere from here, shop and eat till you drop!
The best place to base in when visiting Taipei. There's lots to see and do, not forgetting the never ending supply of delicious food. So much shopping to do and so many souvenir shops around as well. It's always very happening at the Ximen MRT Station area. Very convenient to get to everywhere via MRT or bus.

    Food and shopping
You can find the famous rainbow road. It's a busy area filled with a variety of food stalls and shops that sell items from clothing, souvenirs etc. Buskers and street performers are around the area too.

    Shopping area for young people
Ximending is a must see in Taipei. There are numerous stores, restaurants and cafe. General price is reasonable to slightly higher as it is also a tourist attraction. There are so many things to see, eat and indulge.

    Visited it several times!
My hotel being located in Ximending, I visited it several times when I was in Taipei. It has shops, restaurants, stores selling souvenirs made in Taiwan, etc. Located near it is the Ximending Metro Station ( Green Line). In the evening, they have the Night Market for cheap local cuisines here. More crowd here in the evening than during the day.

When you go to the bustling pedestrian streets in the evening to eat, do something that might seem illogical at first: choose one of the small restaurants with a line in front.

The locals know where the best and freshest food is served, and they don’t mind waiting in line to eat well and affordably.

Don't worry, even if the line seems long, you’ll get in quickly. People don’t linger over their meals - there’s a fast turnover.

We found a restaurant that served the popular oyster pancakes - there were at least 20 people in line, but we got in within about 15 minutes. We were the only foreigners.

Many Taiwanese gave us thumbs up for the good choice. And yes, oyster pancakes are definitely worth trying (even if it might not become a daily dish for the rest of your life). Our other noodle and rice dishes with minced meat, bean sprouts, mushrooms, eggs, and other delicious ingredients were absolutely excellent. And pleasantly cheaper.

After 15-20 minutes, we had finished eating and made room for the next people in the still long line outside the restaurant.

Ximending is the pulsating heart of Taipei! This district offers a mix of culture, food, fashion, and entertainment. It’s like Shinjuku in Japan or Hongdae in Seoul.

This is a lively, busy area with tons of shops and restaurants. We only went at daytime but I can see it being cool at night.

It is better to visit this place late in the afternoon or at night. The place has a lot of shops and restaurants. We visited early in the morning and most of the shops were closed.

Xinyi has the luxury brands and Ximending has the non luxury ones. You see Nike, Uniqlo etc. here, many local brands, and not-great restaurants. In fact, the food options here are very limited and bad

This is a shopping area filled with all manners of shops. Most of the shops appear to be aimed at teenagers, but I loved the anime toys. It’s also a super cool place to buy handmade crafts. Most of these stalls surround the actual walking area. The place is busy day and night though.
