Accessible via MRT. Lots of animals!
You can reach Taipei Zoo via MRT. It's very huge so prepare to walk. There's a lot of animals here. They have a panda and penguin! Cute penguins! Plus they have a lot of cute items on their souvenir shop and you can also reach Maokong from the zoo. What I love here is that you can observe the animals as if you were just right next to them because there are no huge fences/cages which blocks the view.

    Top tier Zoo
Best zoo in Asia by far, the range of animals were extraordinary, all of the habitats were large and suitable for the animals. Great conservation program and the layout was easy to navigate without back tracking and missing any animals. Water stations and washrooms all throughout the zoo, which was much needed on a hot day. Plenty of restaurants and cuisines to choice from, we spent 5 hours there and felt like it wasn't enough, all for the price of $60 NTD

    Wonderful Zoo
We spent about 5 hours touring the zoo, and there was so much that we did not have time to see! The animal exhibits were fantastic! We loved the pandas, the koala bears, the monkeys, the dome, and more! It is very easy to access, right at a MRT stop.

    Quality zoo
definitely recommended for the family. Quite big zoo with lots of animals living on a good facility. The quality of the attractions are also quite nice. I particulry like the koala and reptiles part. The zoo is easy to access via MRT and entrace fee is surprisingly very affordable considering the quality of the zoo

    ZOO at its best
That has never been so easy. This ZOO is the probably the best I have seen so far. And yes, I have been to San Diego, Brooklyn, Edinburgh, Madrid or Vienna. All of them are nice, but this one is just perfect. Beautiful enclosures, nice looking animals and perfect information in both chinese and english. Six and a half hours were not enough to visit all of the areas for me, but I have been enjoying myself, if you are in a hurry, plan for 4 hours anyway.

    Highlight of Taipei
Zoos are often left off from travel plans but this one is worth it - comparable with San Francisco or London zoo. Highlights include the Pandas, Elephants and Tigers. Only 60 TWD. Slightly far away at the end of a metro line, but the nearby Gondola can be made part of the trip.

Enjoyed the diverse exhibits and easy to get to
I really enjoyed the zoo. It it a good size zoo and have diverse collection of animals from around the world. Not as big or diverse as the San Diego zoo but glad I visited. BTW, the panda area actually has two "viewing areas" one indoor and one outdoor. Clean bathrooms which was not a surprise. Even the food selections inside (I had the chicken bento box that came with soup) were delicious and such great value compared to the zoos I have visited in the US. Worth a visit if you like animals and have the extra day to spare. Lastly, it was really easy to get to the zoo. Took the train with one transfer from the main train station. You get off right next door to the zoo.

    One of the better Zoos
Plan to be there for a whole day as it is very big. We didn't get there until lunch and ran out of time to see everything. Very nice zoo and easy layout. Some of the enclosures are too small for the animals but they seem to be well taken care of. Must visit if you have kids.

    Very big
It is one of the better zoos in the world and very vast and extensive. Entrance fee is a token TWD100 for visitors and TWD60 for locals. So, it gets lots of people, particularly local schoolchildren and locals just coming to hang around. But as with any zoo, mammals are miserable and should never be kept like this. It is a good place to see reptiles, though. Very convenient access via commuter train.

A place for your 10k steps a day
Conveniently Taipei zoo is located next to the MRT brown line station. There is an entrance fee to the zoo, we bought our ticket from Klook but you can also buy at the tikit machines outside the entrance gate. The place was amazingly well structured with a lot of resting area, food stalls and toilets. If you're tired of walking there is also a shuttle train to send you up hill to see more interesting animals. The fee is $5 per trip per person. Our train driver was going really fast, I had to hold grip to the seat handle. We spent a good 4 hours in the zoo. The only disappointing thing about the trip was that the Panda house was closed for 2 days when we were there so we didn't get to see them.

there are so many animals in this zoo! my child was super exciting to have the chance learning about different animals. we spent hours in this zoo in a hot day, good thing that there are water dispensers everywhere, free of charge! so that everyone can ensure enough water intake while enjoying their time.

Firstly it is very very affordable entry. Secondly it’s a nice clean zoo with lots to see, can be hilly but there is a shuttle if needed. It’s very big so a full day may be needed

A very good zoo. School groups of all ages were there. Those with small children should be aware that the zoo is on a slope so you'll be pushing a stroller up a hill or stopping it from slowly getting away from you.

Getting to Taipei Zoo is a piece of cake, whether you hop on the subway or catch a bus. The entrance fee won't break the bank either. The zoo is super green, with plants and flowers lining the winding paths. I went on a hot, sunny day, so I only had time to check out the pandas and a few other critters. The place is tidy, but watch out for those sneaky little bugs in the lush foliage—they bite and itch like crazy! And the camel area? Well, let's just say it's got a bit of a... distinctive smell. They've got a special spot just for kids, though, which helps keep the chaos down in the other areas, so you can relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. Oh, and the souvenir shop? Loads of cool stuff, but it's not exactly bargain city. It's understandable, since those handmade plushies are seriously top-notch.

What a brilliant zoo! Take the brown line metro to the zoo - it's really close to the metro station.

It only costs NT$100 per adult (approx £2.50) which is incredible! You can go into the visitor centre and get English maps but all the zoo signs are in dual languages.

You can easily while away a whole day here. The panda house is closed to entry on the first Monday of the month - worth knowing if that is what you really want to see.

There are lots of animals we wouldn't see in UK zoos- koala, giant pandas, pangolin , capybara, anteaters... as well as the usual African animals including hippos.

The pangolin dome is brilliant as is the bird world dome.

If you decide to do the cable car first, get off at the zoo station south stop as you can buy a ticket and then walk down the hill to see everything rather than go to the bottom of the hill (to the main station stop) and wall back up again!

Go in for a coffee when you leave the pangolin dome - it's amazing!!

A really great zoo and well worth a visit

Remember to take the shuttle train (TWD 5) uphill to save your strength. It's a lot of walking. There's another exit which leads to Maokong Gondola.
We especially enjoy koalas, flamingos, and penguins.
