Easily managed 1.5 hour walk for sunrise views at lookout platforms (return, including time for photos at various points) from Grand Hyatt hotel. Well-maintained concrete path with hand rails for steps. Lamps at regular intervals. Includes fit and friendly senior locals taking their early morning...More

I visited elephant mountain very early one morning as the sun rose. There were some people on the trail so it was not deserted, and I felt safe. It was a bit rigorous, but great for anyone ready for a bit of a sweat. I...More

Great exercise and there are a lot of locals that use the trails so it is totally safe to walk it alone. Beautiful views and most of the walking is shaded.

This hike was a highlight of our visit to Taipei. We arrived late into town and by the time we got off the metro and found the trail terminus it was dark but that presented a great view of the illuminated city below us and...More

Elephant mountain is synonymous with Taipei and the rocks offer an amazing view over the city within a beautiful green setting. Definitely worth the climb however I would start well before sunset as you might want to take brakes climbing the mountain. You might also...More

We did this on our last day in Taipei on a Tuesday morning about 10.30. It was quite busy with lots of locals and tourists walking up and down. I have bad knees and I have to admit to having second thoughts about making the...More

Wow- this hiking trail was pretty strenuous physically but worth it to see the beautiful views of Taipei from the top! I strongly recommend wearing tennis shoes and work out clothes when you go. There’s four or five little segments of trail (it only takes...More

It's a trail next to Taipei 101, about 25 mins going up along the steep stairs. What you can see at the top was totally worthy. Even better than the view of the observatory dock of Taipei 101 building. Also it's free and good for...More

The walk upstairs is not very easy but totally worth it. The views from different points along the trail are breathtaking. At night you can see the lit city with it's skyscrapers and the colorful Taipei 101.

It depends on your fitness level. My friends and I did it within 2.5-3 hours at a good pace with breaks in the heat, but we could have gone faster or slower. I think we were faster than the average speed though as we passed... More
