Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited with an audio guide. The building interiors were designed to resemble caverns with curved surfaces everywhere and a beautiful example of postmodernist architecture. The public staircase, the grand hall and rooftop are highly Instagramable.

I walked here from the MRT. Not too far but I also appreciated the high degree of town planning as I walked along. I only took a few pics and returned to the MRT.
A unique architectual design.

Very interesting architecturally. Sweeping curves dominate the majority of the exterior and interior. Rare to have owners wanting so much curves as it is difficult to use but this is executed so well here. As one follow the curve around the building, sometimes bringing you to a corner, sometimes bringing you into an explosion of space, sometimes the space are lit with multi colours, sometime dark. Building worth exploring because of all these spatial quality. Finally, the rooftop garden.

I have passed by here many times recently but never actually went into it. Recently my friend took me there and it was a great day spend! You could really enjoy some fantastic local, Korean and Japanese shows but maybe there are not many these days because of covid. but still anyone could check the upcoming program through their website and a visit is must if you have any interest in theatre!

This Theater is ten years in the making and Taichung is truly privileged to have Japanese superarchitect involved, Maestro Toyo Ito. Toyo and team didn't want the Theater to be an isolated box but that the Theater itself plays a pivotal part in revitalising the surrounding areas, and that the place is inviting and welcoming for people from all walks of life to congregate and to spend time together. This goal truly succeeded. The Theater is abuzzed with activities. The Theater is designed around superior sound accoustic and so, Toyo deliberately designed the internal layout to mimic caves and with internal river running through it. There are outstanding experimental amphitheaters at the basement nicknamed as the Dark Room, the Grand Theater on the second and third floor, and the fifth floor being the garden which is a popular haunt for the youngsters taking selfies. The surrounding is attractive with grand park and high rise for the rich and famous (no different from Central Park in NYC). You can easily spend a whole afternoon here. Not only that, the Theater has a different mood in the evening with its lighting effect. If you have spare time in Taichung and if you are passionate about architecture, I would recommend you to visit the Theater in the daytime and in the evening. Highly recommended.

Best of both worlds - children and adults. Architecture is interesting, especially 2nd floor butterfly painting. 1st floor caters to artist showcase and art and crafts (good for gifts).
Good to drop by if you are here in Taichung.

Joined half day trip to come here. Spend 30 min to look around. There is a roof top garden. The decoration and the design both are special and fasinating.

I loved the architecture of this theatre. It's a very stunning example of modern architecture in Taiwan and it makes fun to walk around an discover all the details. The expanse of water on the front is also nice for taking photos with reflections of the building. You can go inside and walk on your own through the public places of the theater – and it looks nearly more interesting from the inside. Don't forget to visit the roof-top! You have good views to the surrounding high-rise buildings.
