Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Was greeted with the sound of aboriginal music when I arrived at the pier. There were people gathered in front of the musicians, listening attentively. Just a short walk in, you’ll find food at every corner (lots of street food). Good place to hang out for meals, that’s about it. This place does not have enough entertainment.

This is one of two stops in our boat cruise at Sun Moon Lake. We were lucky to visit in a weekday. Streets were very pleasant to walk without crowds. Food stalls and souvenir shops were fun to be explored. A cute little town.

This is the 3rd pier if you travel from Shueishe pier. The daytime was busy with tourist, the nighttime was quiet after the boat stop service about 5PM. Local dishes were in the nearby alley, also had minimarts (7-11, familymart). Yidashou side is not serve you for sunrise view. (Sunrise view is great on Shueishe side).

An interesting place to do a bit of shopping and eat. The shops closed early though around 8 pm in winter so go there early .

Caught the last trip around the lake, munched on street food, and watched the fireworks. It's a relaxing and fun atmosphere. Kids could run around and play.

Tried local food on the “Old Street 老街“ - Chicken Wing Stuff with Rice 翅包飯、Fried Cabbage Bun、grilled pork sausage 山豬肉香腸, tasted local rice mo-chi (小米粑); they are all delicious and very affordable. The Old Street leads to YiDaShao Pier which shows beautiful water view with the backdrop of beautiful mountain silhouette. Nice!

The pier has some early night life activity. There are many gift shopping areas and many food places around the area. Good to take a stroll in the early evening before heading back to the accomodations

Most people would venture here if your hotel is here, or you are looking to go on the cable car ride. There's plenty to eat and shop, just be wary of the last ferry timings as you don't want to be stuck on the wrong side of the island

We took the ferry and touedr the lake. This was the no. 3 pier that the ferry stopped for about 10-15 mins.
We did not disembark to tour this place as we knew we'll be back to this pier later in the evening to check-in to our B&B.
We stayed for 2 nights and bought our dinner at a night market/food street. Most shops will be closed once they had finished selling their food/stock at around 7pm.
There are a few interesting stalls which we bought the food. They were rather tasty. One stall sells chicken wing stuffed with glutinous rice. Another sells white-bun with belly meat, cucumber and salted vegetable (I think) fillings. The stall calls it the "XY 包". One can choose bean curd in place of the bun for reduced carbo. We also had wild boar sausage which tasted similarly as the usual sausage at other night market/street.
There are a few souvenir shops that have later closing time. A lot of these shops sell owls or mementos with owl because owl is the auspicious animal of Ita Thao (Aborigine), 伊達邵.
Take a walk in the evening to view the sunset and in the morning to view the sunrise if you have the time. When we there to view the sunrise (though already past sunrise time) it was slightly misty/foggy and added effect to the photos.
