Book this tour! M13’s legendary tour has it all and Taiwan is the most underrated destination on planet Earth. Taiwan is a truly amazing country. It is full of incredible views, hospitable people, and the thrill of riding through its mountains, coast, and cities. I was blown away that after a half day of riding we would look around and seemingly be in a brand new country. I was able to create friendships with other riders, interact with other travelers, and received special attention from the locals. ;)
I was the least experienced rider on our trip (~2 years exp.) and had never ridden in a group before. M13 was able to identify my flaws instantly and gave me a quick coaching session on the first day in order to improve my riding and stay safe. At the same time, I admire that this was not a pussified tour and we did our fair share of speeding and dangerous hikes. I also dropped my scooter in a parking lot – M13 wasn’t upset but I did get properly roasted by him and the group. In fact, I got roasted a lot by M but it was all in good fun and he definitely is the glue that brings the group together. Oh - his wake up calls are the best.
Just like an amazing movie, the pacing of this trip was perfect. No day is the same and every day is better than the previous. I've been on many trips but this one is the first that feels like an adventure. 5 stars

If you have found my review, there is no need to read any of my comments following, just BOOK a 2 wheel tour with M13, do it NOW.
You will love it, you will never forget it.
My first visit to Taiwan, lovely people, safe and clean, a cultural delight, you will not want to leave...
Spectacular landscapes, impressive structures, pristine road surfaces, brilliant mountain and coastal routes.
Mostly respectful and courteous road users, same same but (completely) different to Thailand and Vietnam where rider survival is omnipresent.
Michael, Derrick, Mr Murray and myself, eager lab rats for M13’s first extended 2 wheel tour post covid.
There was some rust and dust on M13 after not having visited some places for a few years… speed cameras... tunnels…
Taiwan is a place where a below average guide could rate highly.
M13 is anything but average.
He is experienced, thoughtful, knowledgeable, quirky, with a passion to share his love of Taiwan.
M13 is not humble, not shy, not subtle.
He is honest, open, direct and also considerate.
There was no itinerary, it was not required.
There were no hiccups, no issues, M13 had a plan, we executed it together.
The routes, sights, activities, awesome, at times surprising.
M13 delivers extraordinary value.
The accommodation was remarkable, there were some great meals.
Our scooters were comfy, 100% reliable, with good tyres.
I was a scooter virgin, now a convert, scooters do corners on rails.
M13 is somewhat proficient on 2 wheels, and also on 4 wheels we discovered.
He can provide advice, coaching as required for those with less experience.
M13 is mindful of rider safety, he caters for riders of all ability.
Everybody and anybody is welcome to tour with him.
M13 has a sense of humour, it is not elegant or sophisticated, but he works hard on it at every opportunity.
There is no better way to travel than on 2 wheels, M13 provides the opportunity to meet new like minded friends.
Mr Murray and I shared our adventure with our new friends Derrick and Michael.
I will return for another tour with M13, providing “Coogles” is not booked on the same tour…
PS. Consider the weather when planning your 2 wheel adventure, avoid the typhoon season or winter rain in the mountains.
Cheers
Mr Gary

Taiwan….for a scooter adventure where the scooters operate near redline and the discoveries are mostly on the ‘other side of the island’. Michael is an endless source of interesting stories and included some incredible theories…..most of which make me realise that ‘I should get out more’. He knows how to get the most out of a 10 day tour. He is well organised and the surprises started on day 1. The 10 day tour is recommended as it takes you right to the south end of the island where the Taiwanese go to play.

As the other reviews have pointed out, M is a singular character with a passion for showing people his adopted country of Taiwan.
Of all the things I enjoyed on the tour - and there were lots - I think the thing I enjoyed the most was how good of a motorcycle instructor M is. He has your safety front of mind, and spends a good deal of time making sure you're taking turns correctly, being aware of hazards, etc. For someone who had never ridden a bike before, this was much appreciated.
Now I've got the bug. It's truly the only way to see a country.

M13 fills a niche that without his IP you won’t really experience what Taiwan truly has to offer even if exploring on a scooter outside of Taipei without a knowledgeable guide such as him in a condensed time you will miss its intricacies and surprises.
Riding in Taiwan at 50k where electricity poles occupy half of a scooter lane when filtering through traffic or on narrow winding roads feels like riding a big bike at 70k in the west just with less acceleration uphill on tap.
As a confident defensive commuter rider the city traffic was fine to negotiate once I adjusted to how it flowed; new or novice riders may find this very confronting expecting ‘road rules’ but M will slow down; just throttle quickly to stay close to him and don’t panic grab the brake. Twisty roads that riders dream of left me slowing down conflicted between trying to take in the scenery and my own rusty skill level.
Remember to communicate what’s more important riding, mixed or sight seeing and he will tailor the route where possible.
A solo day tour allowed me to genuinely for the first time in years really forget about the entire world being somewhere I didn’t speak the language having no idea where I was going whilst doing something I enjoy. My only gripe is that it left me wanting more and I wish I’d booked more tour days this visit or changed my return flight and nagged to see if more days were open but hopefully in the future life will facilitate that I can return again soon to do a full tour so don’t make my mistake…

I've traveled to a ton of places around the world, and scootering around Taiwan is an amazing way to spend a vacation. We booked a 4-day trip with M about a month before arriving and he was kind enough to accommodate dates over the Christmas holiday.
The good -
M is offering a really unique experience that I can't imagine you'll find anywhere else in Taiwan. He also made sure the scooters were in great condition before we left and I was thankful for his care of the bikes.
The bad -
M's communication skills need a ton of improvement. The trip felt disorganized and he seemed to revel in the mystery of not communicating any plans. We settled into that. The real problem was that much of the conversation from him was really negative, rude, and seriously off color. I spent more time worrying about the psychological health of our "tour guide" rather than enjoying and learning about Taiwan.
The term tour guide is a stretch for him as he doesn't express much knowledge about the areas or history of Taiwan so any depth you want to learn you need to do on your own.
If you just want to have fun riding, take a few risks, and can put up with some negative male energy, you'll have a great time. Taiwan is an amazing country and the best way to explore it is on a scooter!

Best vacation I had in a long time. Look no further and book this tour. M13 knows Taiwan better than you know your own home town. I stayed in the best hotels, ate tastiest food and rode some interesting roads. We stopped to see some of the coolest places and best views in the world. I found M13's youtube channel a few years ago and wanted to do this tour ever since. No regrets, will do this again 10/10.

I had the pleasure of riding with M in June 2019. I spent about 8 days on the road with him. It was just the two of us since I had contacted him only a week prior to arriving in Taiwan to arrange the tour. Despite not running a planned tour on my dates, M was very helpful and arranged at late notice a fantastic ride.
The experience overall was excellent, not only because of the staggeringly beautiful Taiwanese scenery and twisty, engaging roads, but also because M is a thoroughly knowledgeable guide and riding partner.
The Bike
I was riding a Yamaha Force 155cc twist-and-go moped - described by M as 'the best scooter on planet earth'. I have no reason to disagree. I come from a big-bike background and do not have much scooter experience, but the little bike is incredibly easy to ride and does all that you need on the Taiwanese roads. It doesn't have manually operated gears (good for beginners) and the brakes are both on the bars (again, confidence-inspiring for beginners). I was initially unsure about riding a small moped, being used to 750cc plus bikes back at home, but I found the bike entirely satisfactory for the kinds of riding that we were doing. It has a lot of storage, is easy to get on and off quickly, and is pretty comfortable even over long distance.
I should add that the tyres were in good condition, the brakes fine and the overall mechanical state of the bike good. M definitely looks after the mopeds and keeps them safe and roadworthy.
The Accommodation
The accommodation was always pleasant. Some nights were spent in smaller, less fancy rooms, others in world-class high end rooms. Overall the rooms were clean, comfortable and safe. I shared with M throughout, and I understand that this is usual on his larger tours too.
The Food
We ate well, from the odd 7-11 lunchtime (which in Taiwan is more or less a roadside restaurant where many people eat their afternoon meal) to delicious seafood hotpots to night markets.
I have lived in China before so I have no problems with Asian food. Even if you aren't an adventurous eater I'm sure in Taiwan you can find more Western fare. In any event Taiwanese food is generally prepared in much cleaner environments and less intensely spiced that other Asian cuisines, so I think most tour participants wouldn't have any issues.
The Riding
The riding was absolutely fantastic and mind blowing. We rode cities, twisties in the jungle, mountain highlands, gorges - reaching at one stage a pass at 3,275 metres above sea level. I have never been to a country in which the scenery is so varied over short geographical distances. On the same day you can be above the clouds and then on a coastal road.
M takes a lot of time to show you the less well-known areas of Taiwan. For example, he'll frequently take a detour to show you an aboriginal village (of which there are many in Taiwan) and talk you through its history and significance.
He also suits riding speed to client - I am an experienced rider and we both set a pace to match.
M takes you to a number of sites each day, ranging from temples to suspension bridges to caves to coastal vistas. You will go to all of the famous landmarks, e.g. Taroko Gorge etc.
This has the added advantage of M being your tour guide for these sites as well as on the road.
The Man
M13 is a very colourful character. His 20 years in Taiwan makes him a local expert. His Mandarin is excellent and his understanding of Taiwanese culture rich and deep.
When you tour with M, who is of course famous for his very successful YouTube channel, you embark upon a Gonzo experience which brings with it the articulate, far-ranging and sometimes downright hilarious conversations of which M is capable. He is a unique man whose idiosyncrasies are set upon a bedrock of kindness and good intent. Travelling with him was great fun. He is genuinely enthusiastic about his work and his passions, and that makes him a pleasure to be around.
Unusually for a tour participant, I was not aware of his YouTube celebrity until just before I joined him in Taoyuan. I can see why he has over 200,000 subscribers on that platform as he is engaging on many levels.
Overall
Overall I would wholeheartedly recommend M's tours. He is honest, knowledgeable and interesting. His bikes are good and the roads excellent. Taiwan is an incredible country with diverse scenery, food and climates. It is also less well-known than most Asian destinations, and that makes touring through it on a bike all the more exciting.
I would definitely come back! Thanks M and Xiao Mei (his charming dog who accompanied us on tour).

Having watched M13’s YouTube channel for years, I was thrilled that he accommodated our last minute request for a private tour.
Neither my girlfriend nor I had never ridden a scooter. M13 was a great teacher and guide. He taught us the fundamentals and gave us riding tips throughout the half-day tour as he led us on a progressively more challenging routes. Along the way, we stopped at some interesting spots, including a very local fishing harbor/market and a peaceful Ch’an Buddhist monastery—not the usual tourist destinations and a worthwhile experience of local flavor.
This short tour was a highlight of our Taiwan trip. Thanks to M13, JD and XiaoMei for a memorable day. I highly recommend this unique and personal experience, and look forward to trying out a longer tour on the next Taiwan visit.

Explore Taiwan on scooters with the world's first motorcycle vlogger M13. The beautiful twisty mountain roads and chaotic city riding make this an awesome tour for motorcycle enthusiasts. It's a perfect mix of riding and doing a variety of other fun activities, which is all included in the price. If only there were more tours priced and packed full of experiences like this one, I would do one every year. This is definitely a one of a kind tour, take advantage of it!
