We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Church was painted and restored but no signage or descriptions to describe any of its history. Clearly from the period of the times in 1666 but needs a lot more conservation.

This was built during Dutch period for religious activities of Dutch (1706). It is situated 200m away from Dutch fort and there was an underground tunnel between the fort and church.
Special feature of this church is you can see tombstone on the floor of the church. Initial parts of original Dutch fort were collapsed and renovated church can be seen.

This Dutch Reform Church is situated just walking distance from the Kalpitiya Dutch fort. It is in a bit of dilapidated state but has a very rich history dating back to Portugese ruling days. Eventually Dutch took over the area and completed it in mid 17th century until the end of 18th century. Can witness the very old tombstones inside and out side of the church. Its worth having a look if you are visiting Kalpitiya area.

This old church is worth a visit to relive the life of the Dutch Settlers. Interesting burial tablets inside the church tells a story of the Dutch pioneers. Urgently needs preserving for the future generations
