Fontanafredda is a very large wine estate (maybe the largest, or at least one of the largests in the region (Barolo communities). The estate has a rich history as it was built as a love nest for 'Contessa Berta', the mistress of king Victor Emanuel (19th century). The wine growing started also in that period. You can make an excursion... More

This is a truly historic wine producer. We have visited a number of wineries over the years and we have had many tastings and tours. This was one of the best. First, you need a little history lesson. Victor Emmanuel II (Vittorio Emanuele Maria Alberto Eugenio Ferdinando Tommaso; 14 March 1820 – 9 January 1878) was King of Sardinia from... More

The estate Fontana Freddy is a nice place to discover Barolo wine. In addition to the winery tour, take a hike in the little forrest on the estate. Good guiding and nice wines to taste. I'll be back!

We had lunch here and it was really nice. Very modern and open feel with good food and wine! We had kids with us and they enjoyed it as well!

We had an excellent tour of the huge cellars by the very friendly and knowledgable guide Chiara. Lunch at the Disguido Osteria was excellent, as were the wines tasted. Wine shop with a very large selection of own and other labels. Highly recommended. Advance bookings necessary for the tour & tasting, while the restaurant and wine shop may both be... More

We went to Fontanafredda planning to have lunch and then a wine tour. We'd done a wine tasting earlier that morning and ended up just having lunch at Fontanafredda and not doing the tour. But ... lunch was divine. The restaurant part of the winery is quite contemporary, the staff very pleasant and helpful, and it's clearly a place where... More
