Stayed one night at mitsui garden Okayama . Was the worst hotel stay ever. The Aircon doesn’t work, we had to open the windows but the sound of traffic was too loud for a peaceful sleep. The beds were too soft and the pillows with...More

In searching for somewhere in Kyoto off the beaten track, this temple complex gets a number of mentions. Visited today (26/Sep/18). 15 mins walk from Daigo subway station. Arrived to find out that the largest section (Shimo Daigo) is closed due to typhoon damage. Kami...More

We went in the Autumn, around the time the leaves were changing colors. The views were breathtaking, just as the photos you see on the web. Didn't go inside any of the buildings, but the Bentendo Hall, pictured on the left, was as picture perfect...More

Albeit is was very early in the Sakura season, I gather that it was extremely quiet during our current visit. There were very few other people there. The temple is a reasonable walk from the metro, and all uphill. It isn't hard to find. There...More

Visited this temple when it just opened and hence managed to avoid the crowd which was important since the temple and its grounds are great for pics. Simply beautiful.

It's a bit of a bus drive from Kyoto, but there's an extra fast bus right to the temple. And due to its location it's not very crowded. Definitely worth a visit. There's different tickets for the museum and the temple garden.

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist

itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
