We had a hard time looking for this area in Umeda Sky Building because it looked like a quiet business building on the first floor. There are many specialty restaurants to choose from.

I wouldn't recommend heading to this area just to see Takimikoji, but if you are already there for the observation deck, then it is worth a look. It is essentially a food court, in the basement of the Umeda sky building themed to look like...More

Stumbled into Inase Sushi in Takimikoji basement food street. Owners are an elderly couple & daughter was the service staff (we think). As it is not as famous as the okonomiyaki shop, there was no queue which worked well for us. We had sushi platter,...More

Takimikoji is located underneath the (very) corporate Umeda Sky Building. It's a somewhat cheesy recreation of a street in 1920s Japan. It lacks atmosphere - you're better off taking the 30-minute train to Kyoto and seeing the real thing. I wish someone had told us...More

This is a food complex in the basement of the Umeda Sky City building. The restaurants by themselves are not special, but the overall atmosphere is decorated to be retro 1950s Japanese. Gets crowded around noon lunchtime when the office workers come out.

This is a small place with only a few seats- run by an elderly couple and their daughter. The sushi is top, top, top quality. They run out of items often, being a small shop, but what they do is amazing. We could see the...More

Kiji okonomiyaki restaurant was nice. My friend brought me here and I loved it. Try real okonomiyaki. Waiter did't speak any foreign language but they are helpful.

It was a total waste of time, effort and money (taxi $20) to go there. Groups of restaurants like this is all over Japan especially in major shopping complexes and transportation hubs - Albeit not right next door to each other like Takinikoji. Uemda/Dojima underground...More
