Neighbourhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

Lots of everything all in one location. Great selections and customer service was great until I came to the Apple Store. On vacation and I was having problems with my new Apple Watch charging, and asked 2 Apple reps to see if the watch was bad or or if the charger was bad. One came back and said that they do not offer Apple Watch charge service and I explain my problem, and just shoo me away and they both started to ignore me. Got frustrated and walked. Would of have 5 stars until my experience with them.

During our visit to Akihabara, we came by this megastore that is right opposite the train station. Well, as it's counterparts in Shinjuku, this is a huge megastore for electronic, electrical and IT products, covering several storeys. You can find almost everything you need "all under one roof" as they carry quite a wide array of products and brands, even with the latest items.

You can leisurely walk around and salespersons were polite and friendly and they won't harass or follow you that make you feel "compel" to buy. They can also understand and speak English and so communication should not be a problem.

And you can also enjoy tax free if you make a purchase of over 5,000 yen (if I am not mistaken).

If you are keen in electronics or IT, well, you may like to dropby here if you are in the vicinity!

This place is a photography enthusiasts’ dream! There is one whole floor dedicated to the latest and greatest gadgets, and they are all on display for you to check out! No need to consult with a salesperson and feel the pressure of having to buy. There were a few other floors in the store but we spent most of our time at the camera floor.

Guess the title says it all! Houses a range of consumer goods and you will be spoilt for choice! Worth a visit! Check out made in Japan hair dryers, home appliances etc! There’s tax refund if you spend above 5,400 yen plus additional discount if you use VISA. Please check and confirm with staff.

We spent a few hours walking around looking at what was on offer at several of the Shinjuku Yodabashi Camera Stores. We didn’t look through all of the floors of each of the buildings, instead looking through what was of interest to us. There were so much variety on offer at each of the stores. However, we found that not all brands that could be available for sale, were not on offer. One such brand was PacSafe camera bags that we were interested in purchasing.

Some of the items were being sold at a reasonable price, but many of the items that we were interested in were being sold at a higher price than what we can purchase on eBay. Perhaps this is due to the fact that many of their stores were located in high tourist areas, that would attract very high occupancy costs.

One negative about shopping at Yodabashi Camera Stores is that they do not offer toilet facilities to their customers. One building had information on toilet facilities, but we could not access them as they were located on floors that were for staff only.

In the Uk you are lucky to get a small electronics shop that order electronics for you. So we found this store amazing. Something like 7 floors full of electronics. You can buy computers, cameras, TVs, robot vacuum cleaners and toilet seats to take home.
It’s massive and full of people! Just goes to show if you have the stock in people will buy it!

In 1986 this is where I bought my camera @ Yodobashi Shinjuku. The last time I went to Tokyo in December 2018 it was easy locating this store near Shinjuku station. You can buy not only cameras but also other electronic items in this big store. Its worth a lot of hours of going through all the items on sale and comparing prices.

Pretty much any new electronic item seems to be sold here. As I was looking for camera equipment in particular, I was blown away by the amount of current inventory and the fact that each brand seemed to have it's own aisle and salesperson. If you're looking for the latest, and not necessarily a bargain (pricing seems to be MSRP on everything), this is the place for you.
