Neighbourhood: Shinjuku
Shinjuku is the commuting capital of Tokyo, and contains the busiest train station in the world. To the west, there's an office district with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office at its center. To the east, there’s a district with long-established department stores, cinemas and theaters. Shinjuku Gyoen is a park originally built as the garden for the Imperial Household. It is quite famous as a venue for cherry-blossom viewing in March and April. In Shinjuku, many restaurants operate all night, and districts such as Omoide Yokocho (Memory Lane) or Shinjuku Golden Machi have back streets filled with tiny restaurants and bars that reflect each owner’s unique taste and style.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are a lot of shopping places in Shinjuku, but this is probably the best one if you prefer to buy what local people buy, and eat what local people eat. We prefer to do and try to understand the culture.

Best Udon dish to order here is the Salmon & Avocado in Creamy Soup. Order it as a set with a sushi(secret here is the sushi is fantastic but can order only 1 per set). We also ordered the broth soup but found it a bit salty.

Next is to order the dessert bowl with a drink. I ordered the green tea ice cream with ginger ale drink. Good deal.

The queue was shortest among the restaurants on the same floor so we chose it. Surprisingly it was pretty good.

I will always recommend Lumine 1,2 EST to anyone for shopping n dining options because it’s limitless. A bit confusing must get used to the place, but it’s worth it in my opinion.
I never want to miss going there for my bakery fixes and ice creams and fashion

I didn’t enjoy my visit here. I wanted to. I was just exploring the different department stores looking to buy midrange goods. This was overly expensive which is fine if you are looking to buy high end goods, but probably not for the average tourist looking to buy only a few clothing items and souvenirs on a trip.
Also quite busy given the location adjacent Shinjuku Station.

Always love to get lost in Lumine. Never able to find my way around- but going in circles made me explore many shops n corners I’ve not come across before. Still learning to navigate my way but it’s all linked so u won’t be that lost.

It is as great shopping place for ladies in their 20s and early 30s. Love the overall design and style of the clothing brands. The price ranges are cheap as well.

It works as a shopping mall. Right after the station, you can find everything here, the halls have since cosmetics, pharmacy, fashion, pet products....food, massage... services as well are offered here. For people who live here, it is a good alternative of purchasing groceries when leasing the station and going home. Nice place to visit.

Hovering around the train station, this is great place to shelter from the sun or the rain! Plenty of shops and restaurants to keep your interest, many of which we don't see in the UK. Oh and a few coffee shops around it too.

The shopping in Shinjuku, Tokyo is rather good. Packed full of brands you don't get in the west. Really good quality, but not cheap. Not as busy as other parts of town.

Surrounding JR Shinjuku Station on all four sides are huge department stores, electronic, camera, toy and every imaginable shopping store you might want. Lumine is actually owned by JR railroad, so duh the reason all these stores are surrounding the station. This store is near the south and east exits if the station. Unless you are in a shopping spree, I don't think you will find much difference in all these stores including Isetan, and Takashimaya. I did find some good restaurants in Lumine, so check directories at ground level. Try Kobe Gyunta on the 12th floor I believe.
