Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Staff very rude.
The campsite is good but the staff are so rude and need to go on a customer service course.
They staff in the shop/ reception acted like they couldn’t be bothered answering questions and like they didn’t want to be there.

Stayed for 6 nights on the campsite.
The toilet and shower facilities were so clean! They were being cleaned constantly throughout the day. These were locked at night due to Covid and not being able to clean throughout the night but 2 disabled toilets could still be used.
Shop was handy with essentials.
Little cafe too for snacks.

We were gutted not to be able to use the lake more freely... it was 32 degrees one day so a little paddle for my 5 year old would have been lovely. Lake was nice and peaceful when we hired a canoe for an hour

Noise from the motorway was a tad annoying but we knew this before coming so didn't let it ruin our stay.

Lots of fun days out in the area. Would recommend Magna in Rotherham, also little adventure golf up the road from the campsite and the Dome for swimming.

My 10 year old sons went on the water park inflatables. It was easy to book online and for £15 each you get 50 mins on the park with hire of wetsuits.
My concern is i am not sure how the wetsuits are sanitised in-between uses. They are wet and the adults there (not part of our party) were complaining theirs smelt of B.O
However, the boys enjoyed it even though they were freezing at the end of it. Maybe more of a sunny enjoyment rather than a cold day.

My son and his friends from an under 15 local football team used the park to celebrate what should have been the team's promotion that was prevented by Covid 19. 25 minutes into their 50 minute experience they were ordered off the inflatables by the safety official who was watching them. Apparently they received over 10 warnings relating to the use of bad language but the boys insist they has no more than two complaints from the lady. No-one on the shore could hear the boys and any supposed swearing, and the one lady and daughter on the inflatables with the boys was curious as to why they had been told to leave. We requested a refund of at least half the money as the boys had only had half the allocated time but this was refused. I wonder what the policy is, for instance, regarding 25 year olds on a stag-do and as to whether they would carry out the same punishment. . They received £255 for 25 minutes "work". Will not return and will ensure friends are aware of the draconian policy carried out by the staff

I had to leave 2 days early from a 4 night stay as it was just too disappointing and really not open. Initially our booking stated we could check in up til 9pm. I arrived just before 8pm and they were locking up. If i had been a bit later i would have been locked out as there is a coded gate at the entrance. Then was informed i wasn't allowed the awning i had booked in the booking on pitch up. it's a drive away awning, a tent structure pegged into the ground. When i said it was a 'drive away' they said it couldn't be used. It would have meant dismantling my awning every time i wanted to leave the campsite.I saw later a tent was in place at another spot onsite. I thought i'd shower and do laundry after my long drive. I was told the laundry was locked from 8pm and so was the shower block every night. They left the disabled toilet only open at night so at least there was a toilet. i was informed the laundry would be open at 8am and i could buy tokens at the shop.
I went to get the tokens and do laundry at 10 am the next day and found them both locked again. After a while i did get access from a member of staff but it meant i had to change my plans again for the day as i couldn't get it done early on.
I sat in the cafe /bar communal area and was asked why i was there. I used the wifi as there was none available in the camping area or i'd have to pay for it.
I wanted to use the watersports and was told they were not on as they weren't on til the English school holidays started at the end of the week ( the day i was to check out) so I'd avoid this place if you want things to do in the Scottish school holidays in early July.
We went out and came back to find lots of swimmers in wet suits in the car park so i guess the swimming was allowed but they did not tell me that and we could have at least done that but I was told it was shut.
I really got the overall impression that as there were only a few on the campsite and the English school holidays weren't on they couldn't be bothered.

We visited the site to take part in the inflatable obstacle course out on the lake (3 adults). Staff were pleasant throughout but I was a bit miffed to be told to arrive an hour early for our slot and they only started getting us ready fifteen minutes before. Never mind it was a nice day so we bought a pizza from the kiosk and sat on the picnic tables to wait so it was a pleasant place to sit. The activity was a lot of fun and staff managed to keep it safe whilst not stopping people having fun. It is a good activity for older children/teens but probably not suitable for under 9s. It is the sort of activity which attracts older teens so it can get boisterous.

Absolutely appalling, booked paddle boarding for two children and adult (coming over from Hull). Had already set off and was on the motorway and had a phone call saying that paddle boarding was Cancelled as there was an event on. Really? Two hours before? We where already on the way. Absolutely disgusted and will never return.

My second visit here the first was kayaking ad a couple and the second was paddle boarding with friends. Felt safe and instructed both times, provided with safety brief and buoyancy aids. Lovely view for a drink and flat bread after too. Also a wheelchair lift from bar/reception to the land site

Good clean site. Felt safe for the kids. Couple of play park areas and space to play cricket.
Shower and toilet block was great and kept very clean. Shame people are already vandalising it. Take own loo roll as often none left.
Could do with better loo roll holder and a bench to put clothes on when showering.
The toilets get locked at night, seen some say 8.45pm and only leaves 2 disabled toilets which isn't great. Would be better later on. I queued at 11.30pm and no loo roll left.
Definitely book the Aquapark. We also did the Katakanu as good for small children. Hot chocolate is amazing!
A bit rule orientated at times but it is council run so just expect to be told your tent has to be pitched in a certain place and obey the rules on the lake.
We enjoyed it as we did go with 3 other families and had pitches next to each other.
M18 Road noise is always there. But a cheap and friendly site.
Can be noisy as lots of groups. Get asked to stop music at 11pm and no more wood on fire pit.
Plenty of hand sanitiser in the toilets.
3 washing up basins.

TIPS: Take spare loo roll, good for bikes/scooters for kids, fire pit friendly (take wood), lots of dogs (so don't go if you hate 🐕) some rules but not always a bad thing. Handy shop for random bits which shuts at 7. Also pizza/burger and coffee place by the lake.

I had a great day today with my daughter aged ten years on the Aqua Water park. The staff were really helpful and went through the safety briefing and the facilities were COVID compliant. Really reassuring fro see such an efficient service. We had such much fun can’t wait to return. Advisable to book in advance as it is really busy for 15 pounds it is excellent value for money!
