About
We are a small friendly club located in north Essex near the historic Suffolk town of Clare. We welcome family groups and visitors to our club. Our club offers trial lesson vouchers and summer holiday gliding courses. Our trial lessons can be purchased securely from our website. We can offer a 1 mile high aero-tow option, (subject to suitable weather) so that you can enjoy the beautiful local Essex and Suffolk surrounding countryside. Our British Gliding Association trained instructors will even let you take control of the glider if you wish to! Please visit our website to find out more about our winch launch and aero-tow launch options and to learn more about gliding. We do offer air experience flights to passengers with disabilities however, please contact us to discuss your specific needs before booking an air experience flight with us. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the adventure with you!

Absolutely no negatives at all about my visit! Perfect from the fabulously friendly welcome from everyone we met, the thorough briefing, the astounding views and the adrenaline fuelled second flight where we took off by winch rather than tow. The acceleration!!!! Thoroughly recommended.

Great people, awesome experience, THANK YOU! Got my wife a glide for her birthday. Everybody there was warm and wonderful - almost like visiting family (you know - the family members you don’t argue with at holiday dinners!)
Everyone is both laid back and professional. Detailed safety instruction before her flight and then she was off! When she landed she said it was wonderful and is ready to go again and again! A bit of a hazy day but that didn't detract from the great time!
Thank you to John, Tony, Gary (her pilot) and everyone else there. If you get a chance to do some gliding here, we highly recommend it!

Walking with friends close to the airfield I just asked, on the off-chance, whether I could have a refresher flight. Tony,Steve,Dave and all the guys there could not have been more welcoming and helpful. So we fixed for a flight the next day in perfect conditions. Just the greatest team and a wonderful friendly, helpful and enthusiastic feel they all provided too. I really recommend this club. Can't wait to return now!

I received a voucher for a bronze gliding experience and it was amazing!!! Steve gave me a very good overview of the aircraft and the flight was a wonderful experience, with beautiful scenery and a bit of piloting! I highly recommend.

I booked a gliding experience for my sister's birthday and the day did not disappoint. Tony had been fantastic throughout, from helping me arrange everything to flying my sister on the day. The club were also so accommodating given my sister has MS and reduced mobility. She had a fantastic day! Thank you so much to the club! Would definitely recommend!

i was treated to a glider flight for my 70th birthday from my partner it was an experience i will never forget. I was shown how to put a parachute on then into the front seat of the glider cockpit where steve the pilot explained all the safety procedure before being towed up into the blue skies .how wonderful it was to be gliding on the thermals looking down at the beautiful scenery below before returning to the airfield for a perfect landing a few bumps but enjoyed every thing about the flight thanks steve G-CKRU a memory i will never forget kevin

Fantastic 60th birthday surprise for my husband. Couldn't' have asked for a more friendly team who coped very well with the banter from our motley crew! If you want something different to experience, I thoroughly recommend booking one of Essex Gliding Club's experiences. My husband thoroughly enjoyed it and all of his friends and family loved watching the planes taking off and landing, very interesting to watch. We all went away trying to think who we could book an experience for as such good value. Thank you everyone at Essex Gliding Club for helping make the day so memorable.

Amazing experience with amazing views. I got to take control of the glider and my pilot (Tony) was excellent in every way. We were up for well over half an hour and we were allowed to take as many photos and videos as we wanted. Thoroughly enjoyed it and couldn’t recommend it enough.

Booked in 3 silver voucher glider flights for my wife and two children (it was a birthday treat). Unfortunately, the tow plane was in repair, but not wanting to rearrange we decided to go for winch flights and Tony at the Essex Gliding Club said we would still get the 30 minutes flight time as per a silver voucher.
Ended up spending a good few hours at the club, everyone was incredibly friendly and all my family got a number of flights and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Would definitely recommend the club, great location, friendly people and the club do everything they can to make sure you have a great time.
