Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

An imaginative experience through a lush landscape that is characterized by beautiful mountains and similar to the Alps. Visited Drvengrad, a city built up because of a movie called: Life is a Mircale. Worth a visit and take the trains through the lush mountain landscape and see the magnificent scenery. Highly recommended.

If you like intact nature this is a place for you. Amazing mountain views, river streams, old fashioned wooden houses, great hospitality and food... there is all!

The beautiful valley surrounded by forested hills is the center of this area. In addition to the widely known railway line Šarganska Eight and the ethno village Mećavnik, there are many other attractions here.

Let's start from the most beautiful, waterfalls. About six kilometers east of Mokra Gora is the most beautiful of them the Veliki skakavac. Half way it is possible to go withthe car and the rest only on foot, on a hiking trail. Three kilometers from Mokra Gora, on the main road to the south, one road go to the left over a smaller bridge. Just below the bridge is Kotroman Waterfall. Unfortunately, the view from the bridge is not particularly beautiful, and getting under the waterfall is very complicated. About four kilometers from here on east is the river Drugancica with six waterfalls in a row, but they are extremely difficult to access.

On the way to Veliki skakavac waterfall there are two small interesting churches. The first one is dedicated to St. John the Baptist at the Bele vode spring, and the second is the wooden church of Jatarica. On the cemetery next to the Mokra Gora station is the wooden church of the Holy Prophet Elijah from the early 20th century.

In the village of Kremna, on the slopes of Tara, there is a house of "Serbian Nostradamus" Tarabić. One of their prophecies that has been fulfilled is the restoration of the Sargan Eight railway.

I hope these comment will help you. If you need any help regarding this or any other attractions in Serbia (location information, transportation, guidance, organizing private tours, etc.) feel free to contact me because I do tours all over Serbia.

Enjoy Serbia!

Travelled by steam hauled train on Sargan Eight from Mokra Gora to Sargan Vistas a fabulous journey with steep climbs and tunnels to get to the top. A brilliant day with great scenic views. Lunch was had at an intermediate station. Diesels haul most of trains but if you get chance to get a steam hauled service you will not be disappointed as it is on a par with narrow gauge lines in Wales. Possibly best day of whole tour. I would love to go back.

We really enjoyed the Sargan Eight train ride. The train departs at 10:30, 13:30, 4:10 (perhaps there are more, but this is the online schedule so we took the 13:30). To make a reservation, google "reservation sargan eight" and click on the first link (TA will not let me publish review with link & email address). Cost is 600dinar.

They got back to us with a confirmation in a few hours. The day we went, people were buying tickets at the window 10 minutes prior to departure, no problem. But if a tour bus comes in I imagine it would be safer to reserve in advance since the train does not run frequently.

The ride is beautiful and fun. There was good camaraderie amongst passengers, like everyone is just happy to be doing this great activity.

We arrived by public transport, taking the 11am bus from Uzice. If you tell the driver you are going to Mokra Gora, he will let you know where to get off and then it's an obvious 2 minute walk to the train depot. The bus ride is about 1:15, with a stop along the way because this is a longer route going to Visegrad. The return bus is at 18:30 (there is also a 14:00 departure), but while we were waiting a taxi driver pulled over and charged us literally the exact same price as the bus fare to go back to Uzice. I suspect he was driving there anyway to pick up his nightshift in an actual city versus the countryside, which was super fortunate for us.

It's nice to combine the train ride with a walk around Mecnavik. There's also signage for a natural thermal spring off the main road. If we had brought towels and bathing suits, could have made an even more complete day of it.

We had good luck to catch beautiful weather, it was sunny and cloudy so we could enjoy outdoor activities. It is so clean, people are very friendly and food is amazing. We had visited Mecavnik and went to Sargan with the train - one of the best experiences we had in the country. If you have a chance, don't miss it!

The trip with old train was a great thing to me. I love trains but i believe it is a cool attraction to everyone. Some cars are very old - from 1939, or from Yugoslavia times. All are different and beautiful, well kept in shape. cause train stopes on every station you can change cars all the time. it is also possible to stand outside. I jumped to the train in Jatare so I did this better repeat of a round trip. There are lunch and coffee brakes on the way - all in nice spots on old stations.
Great views and fun. Don't miss it.

This is a cool way of spending a full 3 hours in the raw nature on the narrow track which take you through 22 tunnels up the hill and a steady pace in nice restored wagons - if you have the chance make booking in advance if you want to be seated - We stood on the back of the train and got the full experience which can be recommended - And bring the children Disney will never be able to match this experience and for 1500 Dinar it's a bargain.

We got there by train hoping to see the doll village of Emir Kusturica's world. And we made it, though we missed the 8 train still there were so many things to enjoy. Besides we made friends with a dog who accompanied us almost all the way...
