Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We arranged several activities for the day, starting with Axe throwing which I was fairly bad at but my other half excelled at, followed by knives and stars (I recommend these as they add a different experience and if like me axes didn't go well these might save your pride). We followed this by archery and air rifles which were both very enjoyable with good equipment provided. Nigel who ran our first two experiences was great fun and a good host.

We had lunch at the on site restaurant which was good value and the perfect kind of food for an outdoorsy day.

We finished off with the Quad bikes and this was a highlight. The bikes are powerful adult machines and the trails have a good selection of surfaces and challenges. The instructor took some good photos during the run and these are available for a small fee.

All in all a very good day and would recommend it for the amount you can do in a day. (we joked it was an assassins training day)

Came here with a few mates and we had been to several different quad biking venues around the uk and this one by far beats them all! Most of the other places have smaller less powerful quads and just a standard mud track whereas these guys have the most varied track I’ve been on.
The bikes are big enough and fast enough to make you feel safe whilst exceeding speeds of 50. Our instructor made us feel very welcome and gave us the right tolerance on track allowing us to occasionally give it a little slide.

One thing that did raise my attention when we arrived was we were asked to put a damage deposit down on their system in case of any negligent damages, this was the first I had heard of it! We then realised it had clearly been stated in all of the confirmations that we would have to do this! 🤦🏻‍♂️
I did question why we had to do this and i realised it was like a car, if you have a crash and claim your insurance goes up. As you can imagine they must get a lot of crashes from people just being stupid and people making mistakes if they claimed on everything I’m sure the price of insurance would be insane! I think it’s fair enough to say if you cause damage due to your own riding that you should have to pay for it! These people are there to help you have fun not to pay for your stupidity!

The confirmations are clearly there for a reason so to anyone reading this thinking of booking with them...READ THE CONFIRMATION after you book.

I have read through some of the other reviews people have left and I agree with most of them- excellent service all staff were extremely proud to work there it seemed.
Some of the people that post these bad reviews are idiots, It seemed to me all of the staff knew everything about all of the activities and were there to help, The only way I can see anyone having a bad experience with this place is if It’s you causing the problem. Everything you need to know to have a good time is explained to you before arrival and anything else is explained when you arrive.

I was asking a lot of questions and everything they explained had good reason ( mainly to keep yourselves safe )

We will definitely be back soon, looking forward to the wet weather 😝

We visited this place for quad biking and Segway riding as a family of 4 the kids being 14 and 16. So both the kids had never even sat on a quad as we are from the city and struggled to get to grips with them however Kieran a young lad who was our instructor was really amazing with the kids and spent time with them and had brilliant patience and skills in dealing with them. So the quad biking itself was great a fun track with lots of water and mud and a few fast stretches were you can whack the throttle in. When we returned to ride the Segway’s we were so pleased to see that Kieran was our instructor again, he immediately recognised us and remembered that one of my children was very nervous in these situations and easily put off and has a tendency to quit, Kieran without hesitation approached my son and filled him with confidence and coached him one to one until he felt safe enough to tackle the off-road track, which we did and it was amazing such good fun and we would all definitely recommend both the quads and Segway’s,( they have many more activities there but these are the 2 we tried this time round) And if you do go and are fortunate enough to have a Kieran as you instructor then you’ve hit the jackpot he really is an asset to Devon Activity Centre and they are very lucky to have him as an employee. Thanks Kieran we really appreciate what you done for the boys, and us adults especially on the Segway’s 🤣🤣 your an amazing and patient instructor , top marks mate.

My purpose for writing this review is to bring to your attention my absolute dismay my family experienced yesterday at your so called experience of a lifetime. Well our experience never happened for my 3 grandchildren. The cost of the day was £67.00 , and offered Archery with tuition, well the tuition was sadly missing, the attendant had little or no banter or tuition to offer. We were placed in front of a TV screen to be told the safety issues, but apart from that he said hardly anything to any of the group in our booking slot, except their names and after they had fired off the arrows he said "Now pick up your arrows and count the points" Pray tell me where was the tuition in that. Baring in mind our 3 youngsters where complete novices never trying archery before, yes the attendant had to help my youngest load the arrows, he never spoke to him during the session, and he left my other 2 grandchildren to their own devices. I doubt whether the attendant was even a qualified teacher, as he had no social skills what so ever. Was this a pleasurable experience " No a complete waste of money" Also with regard to covid precautions well I never saw any upon arrival, or during the experience. The attendant throw 5 wrist protectors on the floor for the 8 participants with no advice as to how to put them on, and the other 3 had to keep swapping the wrist bands every time. AS for sanitisation of the bows , well that didn't happen, and it was a good job we always carry our own hand sanitiser. Hey Ho your Covid precautions are rubbish. Would I recommend you to anyone else? NO! NO!NO! LInda

What a fantastic couple of days activity. The Segway was a blast for the family and would highly recommend. Ross was great with the kids and we were off exploring in no time. The route taken gave lots of opportunity to test different terrains.

Quad bike session was brilliant for the two kids that went on an adrenaline filled ride. They were positively buzzing when they came back and an hour out make for a worthwhile experience. This along with Segways will be on the list next time we visit.

Out of rifle and clay pigeon shooting, the clay pigeon we enjoyed more but both were good family competitive time.

Slight down point is that the cafe range is a tad basic so take a packed lunch and flask.

350cc Quads coupled with very poor instruction makes this a centre to avoid with nervous, young or inexperienced riders.

We were charged £3 each for balaclavas on top of our £41 each quad fee (which is NOT clearly stated on the website). Then the £250 insurance cover has to be paid: and who knows when you get this back, but it has gone out of our bank account!

Our group of 5 was mixed with another party of 2 riders and once out on the course we "trundled" along, which added insult to the injury our 14 Yr old rider experienced when she did failed to ride more than 5 metres without crashing the quad, twice. The second one causing her significant bruising and ended her trip. It left her "scared" rather than thrilled by the whole experience.

We were the only couple booked in so with our own guide it felt like a really personal experience. So much fun. You are shown a video and then have a practice run with the segway limited to 5MPH. Then the speed is unlocked and off you go following your guide. Pictures are taken by the guide throughout the experience. We covered road, fields, woods and hills and tracks. Our guide Paul ensured you were safe at all times and it was a truly wonderful experience that left me feeling on a high for the next six hours. Can't wait to try it again. We are both retired and did not find it hard work at all.
The only downside was that you asked to arrive half an hour before the start but the cafe does not open until 10 so nothing available before then.
You are free to walk the grounds before or after your ride.

Went on the 1 hour quad biking safari today. Amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed it. Briefing/safety video was good and then they do a small beginner/trial track so you can practice and they can keep an eye on you. I was actually quite anxious at this point but once on the bikes it became quite obvious and was really easy to pick up. Both Kierans were really helpful and friendly and put us all at ease. Once they were satisfied we were all safe we were off on our safari. Loved it! My only criticism was it was over far too quickly. Just wanted to go and do it all again.

We could not of had a greater experience at Devon Country Pursuits. Right from booking it has all been very smooth.
We were celebrating my brother's 30th and he, myself and all his friends thoroughly enjoyed the day of laser tag and axe throwing.
Steve - Laser tag Instructor was very welcoming, professional, kind and friendly and clear with all instructions in each game for each map.
Hayley - Axe Throwing Instructor was also very professional, explained everything very well and she was great to have a laugh with.
We shall definitely look to recommend this to other people and look forward to returning in future

The only slight down side was when booking it was not stated on the that the Laser tag was located on a different site but it was on a confirmation email and had very quick phone call from Mark advising a time change because of this.

We chose the 75 minute segway experience and it was excellent. Our ages ranged from 11 to 70 and we all managed the segway with no problem at all, with none of us having tried it before. Our instructor, Millie, was patient and gave us great tuition before and during the 4 mile route.
It was a great family morning with a cream tea thrown in afterwards in the cafe.
We are now discussing our return in order to try the Segway olympics package.
The only point I would suggest to other people is that it may be better to do this first thing in the morning. We booked the 10am experience on a Sunday so arrived before other people and before too many cars, families and dog walkers were around the tracks, woods and pathways. A later booking may mean you need to be a little more cautious during certain parts of the 4 mile route.
