Ohh my god..the sound when the water touches the hole. Its ridiculously loud and a very good view. The better the tide the better the sound. You will feel like not going near the water. We went there on 2 days and day 1 was...More

Yep it make noise!! Following our little map we made it to the hole with a thousand other people. Three cruise ships parked in the bay. Way too many people. But we worked through the crowds and got some pictures.

It didn’t thunder for us but obviously depends on the height of the tide and the weather conditions on the day. No reason not to stop on the road to take a look, you might be luckier than we were, more of a mild gurgle...More

We just stopped to take a picture of the fall colors. The rocks offered a nice foreground for the pictures. It would have nice to walk the trails but we didn’t.

Thunder Hole is mesmerizing and amazing--if you go at the right time. I was there one hour before high tide, and a second time I went when the sea was rather agitated by wind and cold. The first visit they had the lower stairs blocked...More

Gotta see it of course, but it was nothing that exciting. To be fair, I'm sure it would have been amazing if we had been there during a storm or at minimum during a high tide with big swells. None of that was the case...More

Absolutely beautiful. A must stop in Acadia National Park. Worth the time. If you have time you can walk to it from Sand Beach. If not there is a good size parking lot across the street. There are bathrooms and a nice gift store.

It's not really a blow hole...it's just where the water crashes w/ more power at certain times of the day. Lot of people wait around to see a big splash, but honestly i didn't see the big deal. If are walking along ocean path, you...More

It was a quiet day at Thunder Hole today. While we had some splashes, it was not the massive splashes I was hoping for. Still a cool experience and one you must have at Acadia.
