So I posted a review of the Beehive the other day and began by saying we stepped out of our comfort zone to do that trail. Well this trail obliterated our comfort zone! We heard about the trail from a national park employee who recommended it as a great thrill for our teen son. We decided to give it a... More

As avid rock climbers (and somewhat lazy hikers), my husband and I have planned to do this trail for a few years now, but it never seems to work out with the park trail closures (this trail is closed for most of the spring/summer hiking season April - August due to nesting peregrine falcons). Finally, we got the chance this... More

This is an amazing trail with outstanding views but should not be attempted by novice hikers or anyone with any fear of heights. It is a strenuous climb with many difficult spots that require climbing over rocks and navigating narrow paths. Worth the effort if you are comfortable with this kind of climb.

the trail is a must do and you don't have to be in super shape! but you must be ready. pack lunch so you can eat it when you get to the top. Pace yourself and let others go ahead of you if they are coming up from behind. Wear GOOD hiking boots. the rungs and ladders are sturdy; the... More

Preparation: I watched the youtube videos and read the reviews well in advance. I prepared mentally and stayed in average shape prior to my trip to Acadia in September of 2016. Despite the foreboding elder at the trailhead warning me of the man who died earlier this year on the way down after reaching the summit, I remained confident that... More

I was really nervous heading into this hike with all of these reviews. I'm kind of woozy when it comes to heights/cliffs, Not in the best shape right now, but was an athlete for most of my life so I have the coordination. This trail really wasn't that bad at all and is absolutely worth the view. I never once... More

This is a fun unique trail with climbing. The views are beautiful at the top but the hike is the best part. Do not take little children like under 10 or dogs. There are some straight up climbing and straight down cliffs but if you are in shape and focused it is plenty safe. have fun!

This is not for the faint at heart. Wear good hiking shoes and bring lots of water as you hike up the trail. It is worth the hike up and the view is amazing. Returning down the mountain you can choose from many different trails. The Trail is well marked, you need to be able to hike over boulders and... More

This is not for the faint at heart. We climbed straight up the Cadillac Mt. using granite steps and iron rungs to get up. Don't attempt if you are afraid of heights. It was a beautiful view from the top.

First of all, make sure you have a parking pass for your vehicle. If you don't then make your way over to the entrance or visitor center. Make sure you have good endurance for this hike. This hike was one of kind! Please know that there are alternative routes to get to the top of Precipice. Actually, for most of Acadia... More
