- Robert WCorvallis, Oregon300 contributionsA beautiful place to take a nice walk with Fall colors presentOn a sunny Fall day one could not ask for a more beautiful hike. The Fall colors were out and the sky was clear. Consequently we had a very nice walk around Jordan Pond. This is a relatively easy 3+ mile walk. There is an extensive board walk, a little bit of granite through which to migrate, and the a wide path. It seems interesting to us that what one calls a "pond" in the NE would be called a lake in the West.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 26 October 2023
- dustythoughtsManchester, Connecticut2,236 contributionsGorgeously tranquilWe came across this pond almost by accident while we were driving around the loop, and had to stop to admire the breathtaking beauty of this place. We were lucky enough to be here on a sunny day, so the clear blue lake mirrored the sky beautifully. There are a bunch of trails that connect to/around the pond, to varying degrees of difficulty. We went on one of the hikes around the lake; while we turned around halfway through, we thoroughly enjoyed the tranquility of the trail.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 May 2024
- Jessicalynn101711 contributionsVery Pretty!Beautiful! Such a gorgeous place and not challenging to walk. I would suggest wearing some bug spray as it can be a little buggy in some spots near the water. There is parking near the trail if you are driving the Acadia Park Loop.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 May 2024
- Gina MNewtown, Connecticut30 contributionsPretty walk around the pond - doable for most peopleJordan Pond is a very pretty pond with a 3.2 mile loop. We had done the Beehive & Cadillac so this was very relaxed in comparison. Most people could do this easily, but be aware there are some parts that require walking over rocky parts and dealing with uneven footing. We saw frogs, tadpoles, fish, ducks, birds and a tree eaten by a beaver. The trail was a little crowded with babies and dogs and larger groups, but we went in the middle of the day. You might want to aim for early or late. Beautiful! Enjoy!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 4 July 2024
- KathyS9846 contributionsBeautiful! This is a beautiful, pristine lake to hike around. It took us 2 hours at a leisurely pace. There are some sections of boardwalk type trail, flatter trail, and some rock scrambling. (A short section) Bathrooms at the start and the pond house if you want to get a bite to eat. Come early to get a parking spot and avoid the crowds!!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 July 2024
- ems_jlsMarlboro, New Jersey135 contributionsPond great but boards a bit muchThe pond is very scenic, with The Bubbles hills rising over the end. We started the pond trail on the left side, and soon came up the boards. I thought they would be for a short stretch but they go on and on and on, with constant decisions about which direction will reach the next bypass area first. We managed but it's not for everyone. After 35 minutes we turned around and came back.Visited July 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 August 2024

The restaurant had an article posted about it being a gem. Be aware that the parking is very difficult to find even with two lots in September. The parking also serves for people doing walks along the pond and other hikes. We teamed up with another couple to be a party of four. We were given a beeper and told after 10 minutes that the wait would be an additional 15 minutes. It was an hour. We were the last to be seated outside on a pleasant lawn. Since it was now 5 in the afternoon we decided to eat dinner as well as popovers. I had a lobster roll which was below average for the market price of $35. The side salad was minimal for an additional cost. My spouse had seafood chowder which was lukewarm, thin and sparse in terms of seafood. It was mostly tiny onions and potato pieces. The popovers were OK. The wasps wouldn’t give up trying to eat the strawberry jam. Would I go again? I would go for “tea” for the popovers and leave out the meal. I would appreciate knowing an accurate time for the wait.

Jordan Pond is an iconic image of Acadia National Park well known to tourists, but you will not find any crowds if you embark on a long hike around the pond (8.5 miles). Tourists mostly congregate on the beautiful lawn behind the gift shop and the restaurant. The views of the tranquil pond, the Bubbles, and the mountains on both sides are breathtaking and soothing.
Keep in mind that you can start your hikes to the Bubbles, Penobscot and Sargent Mountains, and Pemetic/Triad Mountains from the different wooden signing posts not far from the lawn. These hikes are more difficult that Jordan Pond Path, which is flat.

Great hike with stunning views of the pond. You can hike around the entire pond. The second half (going counter clockwise) has some uneven spots. We usually just hike halfway around and do the crossover trail to Eagle Lake then back the way we came and enjoy some popovers at the Jordan House.

This is an incredibly beautiful path around Jordan Pond - but go early or parking is a nightmare! We arrived a little after 8:30 am and had no trouble with parking and a relatively empty trail for the first hour or so. The restaurant starts taking names at 10 am so the place is packed after that! When we returned from the pond loop we waited in line about 20 minutes to put our name in and then were seated within 15 minutes since there were only 2 of us. I think an early hike is the way to go - then just make the best of the wait for the restaurant. I have to say that the popovers and the blueberry crisp lived up to their reputation!

Acadia has so much variety, but I think the Jordan Pond is the most peaceful. It can get very crowded during peak times, and the parking lot is nearly impossible to find a spot from 10am-2pm. Go in the morning or evening when crowds are low. We combined the Jordan Pond with the South Bubble Trail to get an elevated view of everything.

Jordan Pond was my favorite part of Acadia.
The two hour hike around the Jordan Pond Path was scenic and a lot of fun. Although we didn't see any animals we did catch a glimpse of some slack liners in the cliffs. There are many areas to stop off for pictures and even have a picnic if you desire. My favorite part of the trail was on the left side of the lake with the wooden walkway. In my opinion it was very unique.
We came in the off-season so we unfortunately did not get to try the famous popovers at Jordan Pond House but we will on our next trip.

Words cannot express the beauty in Acadia and Maine in general. We rented E-bikes and rode the Carriage roads to Jordan Pond House. We got there at 11:15 and still had to wait 1 hour for a table to eat at the Jordan Pond House due to the crowds. E-bike is the way to get there without worrying about parking. Otherwise, highly recommend parking at the Hull's Cove Visitor Center and taking the shuttle. Food was ok, still delicious, but very simple. Popovers were awesome!!

We always enjoy the peacefulness of the lake, loons, frogs, beavers, fresh air and trees while on the 3.5 mile walk around Jordan Pond. The walk is so varied time goes by quickly. This year My 4 y/o grand daughter came along and needed a piggy back ride at times. We also saw a few baby carriages had to turn around 1/2 way into the walk b/c of the terrain. So, be prepared for a few breaks, 'less is best' and Bring good walking shoes suitable for a damp environment, gravel trails, wooden planks and a bit of walking over/through boulders. Then be prepared for a worthy long wait at the restaurant for expert pop overs and tea.

I didn’t do the hike around the pond due to limited parking. There is plenty of parking at the restaurant and a breathtaking view of the pond with mountains as a backdrop from this location. When you park, walk around behind the restaurant.

We took our dog for a hike around Jordan Pond. It's a very popular area so try to arrive early. We got there around 8 and there was still plenty of parking, but it was full when we finished. The Jordan Pond Path makes a 3 mile loop around the lake with nice views. The hike is moderate if you stay on Jordan Pond Path, no significant elevation gain but a few rocky spots on the west side of the lake. No swimming is allowed however. Several other trails link up with Jordan Pond Path to extend the hike. We also hiked up to the Bubbles, which was a great hike as well.

Planning a visit soon. How long does it take walking the Jordan Path? Trying to coordinate hiking the path and eating at the Jordan Pond House.

We didn't hike around the entire lake. I think the path is about 3 miles (you should check that). If so, you could probably do this in roughly an hour. The 1/4 to 1/3 of it that we hiked was quite flat. Hopefully someone else who did hike the whole loop can provide you with a better answer, but that's what I can offer.

Can you push a stroller or wagon on the full trail around Jordan Pond?
Written 29 March 2019
No you cannot. You can walk about halfway around if you go to the right. But there is a small wood bridge that you cross, and at that point, things get hairy. We did not anticipate how difficult the path became. We climbed out on rock ledges and did alot of walking on two boards nailed side by side. It isn't particularly "difficult." It's only difficult if you anticipated an easy stroll.

where is the Trail head to Jordan Pond - the easier way
Written 29 August 2017
Without having the map in front of me the easier portion of the trail starts off to the , if you are looking at the pond from the restaurant, to the left of the restaurant. As you wrap around the other side is where the trail gets rockier. Hope this helps!

I wanted to ask about Jordan Pond. Did you see any birds there? I am wanting to see LOONS & sometimes they might have babies by now. Did you see any birds? Also some one said something about "Black Flies" -- what are those? Biting flies? Should I spray on bug spray? Thank you.
Written 8 June 2017
I am not a bird watcher so I don't know about loons. I had no problem with flies. I was there before Memorial Day. I've heard they are closer to the coastline and in the summer along the coastline.

Do I need a reservation for tea at Jordon House? What is the time and price?
Written 18 July 2016
I would call about reservations. It almost felt like a club atmosphere and the prices were more than what I would normally pay. A cup of seafood chowder was $11.50.
