There are plenty of these critters on both sides of the roads. There are numerous holes they have built in their town.

This area is covered by Prairie Dog burrows. You can take you time to sit and watch the watchers who squeak if there is a predator around or if they get scared. Fun to take some time to observe them in the wild.

We loved driving through Prairie dog town. There were so many - as far as the eye could see. It was an absolute joy to drive through.

This isn’t the largest prairie dog town in the area, but it is still fun to watch the activity. As a bonus, the Road to the town is also a great place to see bighorn sheep. We also saw a burrowing owl close to here.

We were there during the day. There are some smaller prairie dog towns before the west park entrance but you will need to provide the light.
