Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was our first stop in Badlands NP. It is a beautiful spot with a beautiful view. Walk out to the edge for an even better view to see down into the canyon, which isn't as deep as you'd think. An easy walk, too.

The Yellow Mounds are an amazing feature, in a Park filled with amazing geological features.
This overlook provides a wonderful view, along a route providing a multitude of wonderful views.
It's almost impossible to find an overlook or pull off in this natural treasure trove that isn't worthy of attention and/or exploration.

And yet another overlook, that illustrates the amazing variety and quantity of geological splendor in this Park.
At some point, words no longer suffice at describing what one is experiencing.
It's best to just pull over, walk/hike, take a picture and/or just sit back, relax & immerse in the surroundings.
This Park is one of our National treasures.

Writing this review became an eye opener for us (see previous reviews).
We remember the view, but were unaware of its association with Wounded Knee.
This imparts a poignancy and significance, that we're sorry we missed at the time.

This was our first stop on our east to west journey along the Badlands scenic loop.
Having mobility issues, we appreciated how easy walking the approach was; and how rewarding the magnificent view was.
We finished the loop; and after checking out Wall Drug, reentered the Park and did the loop west to east. We ended the journey watching the sun set over the Park.
In either direction, there are numerous opportunities to stop & explore, and/or stop & just sit back, while indulging in these wonderous surroundings.

Cool spot to check out while in the park. Not sure there's much of a reason for a follow-up trip but it's a must-see while in the area.

We started our trip through Badlands National Park at the Overlook. This was one of the better stops. You could walk out up to the edge (and we are seniors so, if we could do it, anyone can do it).
Then we proceeded through along the paved road. There are many stops along the road and each offers a different perspective.
We traveled along the prairie dog area near dusk and a number of the animals were out and scurrying about. We even saw some mountain sheep in this area.
Do not miss the yellow rocks -- very pretty.
This park is a must see.

If you only have limited time at the Badlands put this point on your list of places to stop and take some photos. It’s quite stunning.

Nothing beats seeing it in person. I have seen hundreds of pictures and had no idea what it really looked like until standing at this overlook. Just can't beat seeing it in person.

We enjoyed the view from Conata Basin Overlook. We were traveling east to west, and we could literally see the road ahead as it wound down below to the Yellow Mounds. Very cool.
