Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Nice easy out and back trail that is relatively flat. There is an old coral. Murphy's point has a spectacular Vista that includes Green river. We liked the solitude. We started at 8:30 and didn't see anyone else until we were alnost back to the trailhead

You can spend a couple of hours on this trail. It is a fairly easy walk -- mostly flat and well marked. This up-and-back trail leads to a wonderful observation point where you can admire the stunning scenery and take your selfies with a spectacular backdrop.

Hints: There is very little shade on this trail. On a hot day, you will need lots of water, sunscreen and a hat.

This is a 1.8 mile hike each way to the overlook. It has some ups and downs, but is relatively flat. The last part of the hike takes place on rock that leads you to the edge of Murphy Point. It's a great spot to sit and enjoy nature. Beware, the wind was gusty while we were there so be sure to have a hat or headband for your ears. The hike was peaceful enough that I got lost in thought along the way. That's rare for me. Take the time to enjoy this hike!

Along the paved road in Island in the Sky. Provides phenomenal views of the canyons below. Also a good overview of the White Rim Trail.

We hiked this with our two teenagers in March. We really enjoyed this hike, especially after having already done a couple other hikes earlier in the day. This is a very easy hike that will allow you to see a great view of the canyons at the end. I particularly enjoyed this, and our kids had a great time getting photos of themselves standing on the edge looking out over the vistas.

My wife and I hiked this trail as our last hike of the day on a Friday in early October 2016 as we traveled through the big 5 Utah national parks on our hiking road trip. This is a mostly level trail, whose ups and downs aren’t too hard to handle, even though we were a bit bushed at the end of a long day of hiking. This hike is wonderful for late the in the day, however, because the overlook at the rim at the end is so incredible. With the sun going down, you get shadowed edges to the canyons that are very beautiful and wonderfully photogenic. We hiked nearly alone, seeing only a few people during our time on the trail, and no people on the rim with us at all.

We had rainy weather and half the canyon was enshrouded in clouds but what we did see what GORGEOUS. And the hike was very enjoyable and easy.

Murphy Point Overlook Trail is 3.6 mi/5.8 km roundtrip with an elevation change of 100 ft/30 m. The trail is rated easy and should take roughly 2 hours. The terrain is mostly sand/gravel except towards the overlook, where it became slightly rocky. There is a small but sufficient parking lot at the trailhead.

We hiked this trail around 2:30 pm on a windy Thursday in April. It was not crowded as we encountered around 5 people on the trail. We brought 2 L of water with us, which was plenty on a 70 deg F/20 deg C day. Unfortunately for us, the 60 mi/hr winds caused the canyon to be very dusty, and visibility was poor by the time we reached the overlook. The winds also picked up particles of sand and rocks, which hit us constantly so it was not an enjoyable hike. I recommend hiking this trail only if visibility is good.

Easy in a Ford Explorer, but meeting oncoming traffic on the switchbacks could be tense. Not much to do at the bottom but the river is interesting.
