60 mile loop. We started on North end and finished by fording river. My super navigator (LOL) did not notice that in the small printing, so it was quite a surprise to arrive at the river. After 4 1/2 hours I had joked on nearing the river "I hope the bridge isn't out". To my surprise not only was there... More

I think most folks would be happy just buying a postcard of Cathedral Valley. There's a lot of empty dessert between scenic spots. The valley is wonderful, but I think most folks should simply but a nice postcard of the valley instead of a time consuming and expensive trip to the valley. I wouldn't attempt this road without a high... More

Each curve seems to be more beautiful than the one before. We were amazed at all of the color in the formations. In addition we were surprised at the variety of rock formations throughout the area. This a great park that you can actually see for your vehicle.

Take your 4 wheel drive & camera for a day tour of Cathedral Valley. Short hikes to stunning overlooks & unique geological formations make for wonderful photography. A picnic table is located at the Upper Cathedral Valley Overlook. Be sure to check with the rangers at the Capitol Reef Visitor Center for road conditions & water levels at the river... More

The roads were in good conditions, negotiable with most high clearance vehicles. The ford was not an issue: little water in the river.

A worthwhile side trip that will inspire you and renew your soul. The colors and structures are unique. Watch for teenagers that seem to love to race their new four wheel drive trucks through these side roads. Make sure your children are buckled up.

We took numerous jeep trails on our Utah vacation. This was our favorite. We were blown away by Glass Mountain. Temple of the Sun and Moon were also gorgeous. We did the entire 55 mile loop and it was fabulous. Towering monoliths, panoramic vistas and out of this world landscapes. We started at the Caineville entrance and at the end... More

It was us and maybe 1 or 2 other cars the entire time. Be prepared with your own supplies, food and water. I woulnd't suggest it if there were wet roads. The views are terrific, and the road, a great out of the way place. You feel like you are on Mars.

This is THE drive to take if you are a desert lover. The route we took requires a high clearance 4x4 as a river crossing is required along with some other rather rough and sandy stretches. We saw wild turkeys within the first 10 minutes of our adventure but you're likely to see deer, antelope and Desert Bighorns as well.... More
