I took this paid tour while visiting Carlsbad NP and I definitely recommend it. It's a must see...the vastness of the "palace" and the details of every room is truly remarkable. Plus, at the end of the tour they turned off all the lights in the cave so you got to truly be cut off from light for a few... More

Even if you have visited other caves, this is one not to miss. Carlsbad Caverns is an amazing unique place to visit. Our Ranger lead tour, by Ranger Dustin, was very informative. The best cave tour we've ever experienced. If you arrive early enough before your tour, about an hour plus, walk in the natural entrance to meet your guide... More

I recommend following this with the Big Room self guided tour the next day. It's about a 90 minutes and overall easy but there is a long upward walk at the end.

This tour is by reservation only, and is ranger-led. Our guide, Chris, told us that the King's Palace used to be part of the self-guided tour, but too much handling by tourists was damaging to the formations, so the rooms were closed off in the 1990s. Now, it is a paid, ranger-guided tour, and totally worth the price, which is... More

The King's Palace tour is an extra charge on you entry into the Caverns but certainly worth the price. It is located 80 feet beneath the Big Room, It is only seen by those on the tour so if your going at a busy time make reservation ahead of time which you can do online. You see 4 different chambers... More

This amazing ranger-guided tour, starting at the rest area/lunchroom which is reached by the elevators or Natural Entrance Tour, covers 1 mile (1.6k) in 1.5 hours and takes one another 75 feet (23m) deeper below ground, to the deepest point open to the public, as it takes one through the highly decorated Papoose Room, Queens Chamber, Kings Palace and Green... I took this tour on Saturday, October 8, 2016, with my 10 year old daughter and 76 year old mother, and we all enjoyed the tour! It was just under 90 minutes long, and so interesting and informative! Our tour guide, Josh, was probably one of the best tour guides I have ever had on any tour. He was dynamic,... More

This is well worth the money for seeing an additional part of the cavern not available with the general 'Big Room" admission. The Ranger guides you and gives good information of the cavern formations, history, etc. Mad props to our Ranger, Jason. He was very friendly and informative. On the final leg of the tour, where the Ranger turns off... More

This is a guided tour (you can reserve online ahead of time). But I got a ticket by being there first thing, no problem. You'll take the elevator down with the group (or you could hike down and meet up by the elevators). Lots of good information from the ranger. BUT, you can't stop when you want and look as... More

Overall we enjoyed this tour and were glad we did it. That being said, the park combined our 11:30 tour with the 9:30 tour because a ranger called in sick for the earlier tour. Not a huge deal, but it made our tour group size almost unmanageable for one ranger. She did a great job and was obviously very knowledgeable.... More
