Closed sign posted near the west entrance. Road leading up to that point was also very icy. Our fwd minivan was almost stranded. Be careful out there.

Even after seeing pictures of this fantastic place, we got there and were overwhelmed with the beauty of it, it is breathtaking. I have only been during the summer, so I have not seen it with snow all around, but I will next time. Going...More

You can't see much of the lake unless the weather allows you to travel the two roads that bracket the lake-the must-sees West Rim Drive and the East Rim Drive-and both are open during the middle of the year. On the website, the opening dates...More

The ride up to the Lake beautiful all the way. I go up there about once a year. In the winter the road around the rim usually is closed. Snow just to deep. It is a must do if your there in the summer. Lots...More

We stayed in a hotel near Klamouth Falls and spent about 1/2 day going to Crater Lake Rim Drive and Lodge. The lake is pretty amazing, to call it blue is like calling Niagara Falls a waterfall. It is a dazzling clear bright blue that...More

A breath taking, gigantic beauty. Grateful that I was able to see this because of the clear weather.

I've been here a few times but this last visit in October was spectacular! The blue sky and warm weather along with less people made it a visit I'll always remember! Even my pictures were almost eerie with the rim and clear reflection in the...More

Crater Lake is the primary attraction in Crater Lake National Park. It was formed in the crater of a volcano. It will look different from every angle, light conditions and weather combination. Take it in from every possible point on the loop road.

Agree with Absolutely. However expect the unexpected. At altitude and late in the year it could snow. Be prepared.

Yes. I personally find it the better view and offers a lot more. Check for reservations at the lodge. Take the time to hike a little at some of the turnouts. Enjoy!
