According to the hiking guide, the distance is 4.4 but the sign at the bottom of the trail is actually 5 miles with 1,200+ feet climb. It is a steep climb but the ascend is gradual as the switchback is long. After reaching the top,...More

Completed this today with two friends. We left at 8:00 and got to the fire tower at 9:15. None of us are very athletic and did stop for a few breaks during the steep hike up (lots of great views to stop and see!). We...More

I hiked Mount Scott on Sept 3rd, 2017. The smoke from the wildfires was so bad that day the lake surface could not be seen from the rim. The trail is in great shape and not "scary". The hike is not too hard if you...More

We are both 66 and it took us 1 1/4 hr. to get to the top. Not as hard as they advertise. Spectacular 360 deg. view from top. Not to be missed.

Plenty of parking, and a reasonable hike up to the watchtower. The views to the lake are fabulous, but the added bonus are the views across southern Oregon.

We set off in the morning to do the walk which meant we had the trail mainly to ourselves. The views were lovely and at the top the panorama was beautiful overlooking the surrounding area and Crater Lake itself. A reasonable degree of fitness is...More

This is the highest point in the park. The hike is around 2 hours roundtrip if you do not take many breaks. The views of the crater lake are just beautiful.

Mount Scott, at 8,934', is the highest point in Crater Lake National Park. It's an extinct volcano that predates the big caldera eruption and collapse that formed Crater Lake. The trail is rated difficult by the Park, but it's only 2.2 miles (4.4 miles RT)...More
