Near the Mesquite Sand Dunes is an expanse of desert covered in unusual plants that apparently reminded someone of corn stalks. That's not obvious, but they are unusual. You can see them from the road as you drive into or out of the valley.

There was not much to see as we drove by, but maybe the area offers nice hikes. It was too hot to venture out of the car for what appeared to be here.

i guess i missed the most important part of devils corn field and I was not able to see any difference to the other fields in death valley. Maybe the wooden sign is the attraction?

Drove past this place on the way back to civilisation. Real Death Valley scary stuff like that seen in the film Vanishing Point. I've got a pic I will post if I can.

Another of the many interesting features in Death Valley. Really just a stop along the highway, but fun to see and easy to see why it's called the Corn Field.

The bizarre shapes of arrowweed plants attracted our attention on the way to Mosaic canyon and the scenery was so beautiful that we decided to stop for a while to take pictures and learn a bit about it. Although it is very interesting and photogenic...More
