What a beautiful place! Start with the lodge and just explore the area. There is so much to see here. They have cabins to rent as well as rooms in the lodge, but the lake steals the show! The general store will have any supplies you forgot (including libations) and then hit the water! We took the kayaks out and... More

Glacier National Park is a beauty. It's most beautiful lake is Lake McDonald, which offers crystal clear cold waters with colorful stones in it. I visited in the spring when there was still snow runoff so it was ice cold but gorgeous.

If you are in the park take the boat cruise on Lake McDonald. The lodge is beautiful as is the lake. The man who narrates during the boat ride is a little wordy but he has some very interesting information. I don't recommend eating at the loge, however. There are better places to eat outside the park. It's ok, just... More

My wife had a vision of getting a picture with a reflection of mountains, trees, etc in the water. Lake McDonald gave us what we were looking for - crystal clear (and cold) water and calm, glass-like reflections. Yep, I also skipped more than a few stones.

Of the half dozen times I have had the blessed opportunity to set foot in Glacier National Park, I have never done a boat tour on the main lakes. Until this last visit!! So glad iI did, the serenity and beauty of this lake is breathtaking! Our guide was very knowledge and interesting. Only regret is that it didn't last... More

We spent the whole day hiking the trails in the park and on our way out saw the sun setting over the lake and we had to stop. Such a pretty lake and lots of 'beach' access from the road. Took awesome pictures, so stunning. Check it out if you have the time!!

It would be tempting to drive on by this lake when heading up to Logan Pass. But don't. Stop frequently. If coming from West Glacier pull off the road at Apgar Village and go down to the lake for your first view up the valley. Go a little further and find the picnic spot and go down to the beach.... This place is beautiful. We were there in early October and the trees were starting to turn into their fall colors, it was so pretty. The day we were there the weather was wet and chilly, so the park was mostly empty. The "Going to the Sun" road was also already closed in certain sections due to snow/ice. Along the... More
