Unless you are a really fast hiker, plan on a full day in and out. That will give you plenty of time to enjoy the views. You also may encounter some Big Horned Sheep right next to the trail. Be sure to take plenty of water.

Parked at the trailhead lot. About a 11.5 mile rd. Trip hike. Not for wimps. Big elevation change. You will be hiking through some grizzly bear areas. To avoid my anxiety, i suggest bringing bear spray. A must hike if you really want to experience Glacier park.

This really is the hike you don't want to miss in Glacier! We started out with a ranger-led group, but split off with another couple we met and were able to move at a faster rate. Even in September this is a popular hike, so get started early to avoid the crowds. The views are amazing and the Glacier and lake... More

We stayed at many glacier campground so it was a short walk to get to the trailhead. We went the week before Labor Day it was very warm & sunny . It took us about 6 hrs. But we stopped several times for photos & just gasping at the panoramas. If you do any lengthy hikes DO NOT MISS this... More

It is wonderful so do it if you have a chance(and the stamina) We did our hike on a cloudy day so didn't need as much water with as we anticipated(was carrying around 2.5 litres). Started from Many Glacier Hotel around 9:45 and we're back to the hotel around 4:30. Spent around 45 mins on top near the upper Grinnell... More

This is my favorite day hike in Glacier (as of yet). The Highline Trail/Swiftcurrent Pass is great (starting from Logan's Pass), but it is 21 to 22 miles. The hike to Grinnell Glacier is around 13 miles roundtrip, and gives you many similar views to Swiftcurrent Pass Trail. Ideally, everyone could do all the hikes in Glacier, but is just... More

What a lovely day for this hike also. We watched a moose wade in grin bell lake on the way up, saw a genius actually ski down the glacier (in shorts nonetheless), picnicked by the water at the top, saw bighorns on the way down and was greeted by a mama moose and her calf at the boat dock. A... More

We have done this hike both times we were in glacier. Amazing views, perfect shots of the glacial silt impact and a perfect up close view of the glacier. Lots of wildlife. Big horn sheep on the trail.

This was our first visit to Glacier NP and were glad we picked this as our first hike. We were there in late September, so the boats were not available. We probably would not have taken them though. The trail takes you by three gorgeous lakes, Swiftcurrent, Josephine and Grinnell. Seeing them from above is spectacular and their turquoise color... More

Grinnell Glacier sits among the beautiful mountains in Glacier Park. The drive is easy and there is ample parking. It's a great photo op.
