Word of mouth has that the more remote, harder to get to and therefore less crowded North Rim offers a more authentic Canyon experience and better views. However, there is no bus service on this rim and it is closed during the winter.

I visited the South Rim first, so when I finally saw the North Rim, on another excursion, the trip around to see that was very scenic! You pass across a small part of the Colorado River, don't forget to look around! You will pass the...More

Having visited the South Rim many times, last July was our first visit to the North Rim ... Breath-taking! We stayed in Jacob Lake: some fifty miles each way to The Rim. Campground was acceptable, but too far away from that which we wanted to...More

I am told that the average visitor to the south rim stays 3 hours, to the north rim 3 days. The NR is hard to get to but plan on camping or the lodge. The pace is slower, the scenery better, the food is less...More

Sow the North Rim is completely different than the south. The animals, the elevation, the feel, worth the drive no matter where you are. The views are just as breathtaking.

This is a much smaller area to see than the south rim, but it is much the same view with less crowds.

We woke up on the morning of our tenth anniversary on the north rim of the Grand Canyon and I am so glad I planned it out that way. We really enjoyed our time there and it was so stunningly beautiful. It was more like...More

Wordless. Really beautiful and powerful to see these wonders. Mother Nature is simply impressive and never stops to surprise me with its beauty. Even if you stay at the same site (which I don't recommend because there is so much to see), you get different...More

I lived 75 miles of the South Rim years ago, and never made it to the North Rim. I finally made it this past summer. The Grand Canyon is my favorite place in the world and the North Rim did not disappoint. We were there...More

Of course that’s subjective opinion. Our family recently visited both and my 6-year old daughter and I preferred the North, while my wife and 8-year old son preferred the South :-) We visited the North Rim first from our base in Kanab on a rather...More

The views were breathtaking. I have never been to the south rim but have been told the North Rim does not compare. The rim was not crowded and we were able to sit back and really enjoy our time there.
