As I am unable to walk very far and the park ranger noticed my handicapped sticker, he issued us a day pass to drive the Hermit Trail. What a bonus for us, we could stop virtually anywhere there are designated pull-ins (watch out for the free buses bringing hikers from the valley floor!), see and photograph the views and not... This was a challenging trail--I am not going to down play that fact but so worth it! It was so peaceful and way less crowded than Bright Angel. I even felt like some of the trail was better maintained. We only hiked part of the way--took about half the day. We were pretty tired after but a good tired! Do... More

This trail is even not listed on the pocket trail map on the National Park, so it attracts way less people as compared with Bright Angel trail. Nevertheless, this is the trail you need to take if you want to avoid the crowd at Grand Canyon. The view of the canyon on the trail is gorgeous! It is recommended on... More

Hiked to Dripping Springs from this trailhead. By it's name we did not expect much when we reached the spring. Well it "drips" from above while you are under a rock outcrop. The best part is that the water is not dripping but coming down at a rate that when you stand under it you get a shower. After hiking... More

The reason I'm giving this hike only 3 out of 5 stars is simply because the other more famous hikes (Bright Angel and South Kaibab) are much more scenic day hikes. However, if you want a much less frequented trail, you should go for this one. In addition the trailhead starts at the end of a bus line, where you... More

we did this trail which is not all that picturesque but not at all crowded. Also there are no mules on this trail We hiked down to the Santa Maria Spring which is just a water spout and shelter.

We had an incredible tour with Wild Land Trekking, we experienced the Grand Canyon in a way that few visitors do. We hiked for a total of 5 days with one day primarily a rest day along the Colorado River. We hiked in a group of 6 including our guide and often had incredible views of the canyon without another... The entirety of the Grand Canyon is beyond words... all of it is breath-taking... but we enjoyed the relatively smaller crowds at the lookouts along Hermit Trail. We stopped at Hopi Point and Mohave Point, and the views were spectacular.

Incredibly beautiful but pretty challenging. The heat is not to be taken lightly and starting out early to catch the shade will be key in staying comfortable. You may catch a sighting of a rattle snake or two so be on the look out and watch your footing! Always have water handy (and a sterilizer)!

It is challenging. Bring plenty of water. Great 360 degree views from Lookout point and a lot less people that the Bright Angel trail. Enjoy!!
