Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful!!! is about all I can say. We stopped a park ranger for another reason and she suggested we stop at this point. She DID NOT lead us astray. This is one of the most spectacular views in the canyon I think. Just Beautiful!!

When retuning to the visitor center from the Desert View Watchtower, be sure to make this stop. It is a great view of the canyon. And, if you are there during migration season, this is a good point to observe birds since this is the closest point to the north rim (8 miles) and hence in the path of migration.

When entering the park from the east, on the south rim, it is the 3rd stop. Of course, the view is great, well worth the stop. Having done this trip, I would recommend that people do enter from the east and drive west unless your travel after leaving the park takes you east.

We found this vista view of the Grand Canyon fascinating. Lipan Point is the shortest distance from the North Rim of the canyon. As such, its an important bird migration path. There is a good information sign regarding the bird migration and the various birds that make the flight. The short flight distance is 8 miles (13 kilometers). There is... More

Being mobility impaired my viewing locations are limited. Lipan point was accessible and had great views. I was disappointed to see young people climbing over the safety railings to hike to a pinnacle that looked unsafe. But we did not see a single ranger in the park except to take our admittance on entry. There are several good accessible lookout... More

My wife and I visited the Lipan Point on late September 2015 and then again in early March 2016. This is probably one of the most spectacular points in the south rim with views of the Colrado River to the East and to the West. The straight line distance between the south rim and the north rim is the shortest... More

This was the first overlook we stopped at after entering the park. My wife had just purchased her lifetime pass. The view moved her to tears. The sun was low in the sky and we had tents to set up at Mather Campground so we didn't linger too long.
