The sign says, "Colter Bay Visitor Center," but it should also read, "Indian Arts Museum." Yes, you can get your information from the Rangers and volunteers, but this is a MUST stop for the Indian Arts Museum. The displays are first rate. Spectacular! Apparently, what is shown is just a small part of a 1400+ piece collection of American Indian... More

This area has a great place to eat, The Ranch House, and a good shop at the visitors center. Everyone here was very friendly.

I spread my husband's ashes in view of the Grand Teton and the magnificent Snake River five years ago. I returned on this trip to revisit the spot and take in the wonderful scenery of the Tetons. My visit to the Colter Bay Visiter's Center was an added plus to my trip, as I was able to purchase some gifts... More

Fair amount of information offered on both the national park as well as the Native American history . I actually expected more but you still see a few artifacts.

We rented kayaks here to paddle into Jackson Lake. The views of the idsland with the Tetons behind was stunning. The paddling was the best ever.

It's been 20 years since I "stumbled" on this museum. But anyone going to Jackson Hole is subject to my raves about this little known gem. The artistry presented by the indigenous peoples of this country are stunning and the presentations bring the humanity of these people to life. I would consider this to be a must do for anyone... We don't usually go into this visitors center as it is all about Native Americans and that just isn't our thing, this past trip we visited it multiple times as were went on a guided hike with the Rangers, around Swan Lake highly recommend takes about 2 hours at the most, and we went to get our kayak stickers. This... More

Among the many things to do at Colter Bay is the visitor center / museum. During one of our visits, there was a native artist who crafts flutes, demonstrating and explaining the instruments. The rangers on staff offer very useful advice, and you might find a very interesting book about the region. And there are bathrooms. Watch out for tour... More

We purchased a necklace from the local artisans from Lakota/Sioux (they host Indian artisans throughout the summer). Love that they give Indian artisans the chance to sell their quality goods.

We had a great time camping here and visiting this center. Good info, friendly rangers. It is up north in the park and was not our first choice of campground, but had a great time anyway. Jackson Lake is great.
