This is a very short gravel road from the paved road at about 9,000 feet. There is a pit toilet, monument to Mr. Mather and provides a great overview of Wheeler Peak and the valley extending down into the flats around Baker.

This is a great spot for sightseeing within the park. It's got a couple of places to sit/picnic and a view long view finders. Great picture opportunities of the Wheeler cirque.

This is a small overlook along the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive. Features a parking area, restroom, monument to Stephen Mather, and small viewing platform with telescope for admiring the surrounding peaks and valleys.

The mid-September snow closed the road at Mather Overlook but the shorter trip provides you with views of rock formations and at the Overlook a neat little platform that lets you view the meadow below. They even provide you with an adult binocular telescope and...More
