We have visited Clingman's Dome at least 10 times. It has always had awesome views, except one time when it was raining and fog hid everything. Sunrise is the best time to come! Come early in order to find a parking place.

Don't rush to the top, take your time and enjoy the hummingbirds on the side by the wildflowers. Picture taken by me

Be prepared to hike the 1/2 mile up the mountain, but gorgeous views at the top. Signage is great explaining what you are seeing. Appalachian Trail is at the top too! There are benches so you can stop and take a break hiking up or...More

If you are so lucky to go to this site on a "rare occasion" day when you have clear skies then it would be a million dollar view. It is cool that it is the highest point of the smokys and on the Appalachian trail...More

This is a wide paved road that you can walk all the way to the top. It is very simple to access but get there early because it gets crowded. Make sure you go on a day that it's not cloudy so you have a...More

Nice expensive views of the mountains. Pretty easy hike. Is crowed with people. Has a small gift shop and bathrooms located there

Of course the day we decided to go to Clingmans Dome the weather didn't cooperate, but it was still worth the trip! The drive up the mountain is beautiful. The .5 mile walk from the parking lot to Clingmans Dome will get ones heart pumping...More

We love this place. The scene was breath taking. Good for exercising or hiking. The only setback was the public toilet need more attention.

Always beautiful, but a steep walk, not for those who are out of shape. Am always glad I"m not the only one gasping for breath by the top. Kiddo loved it as well.

Best view of the smokies. Try to go on a sunny day as it adds to the range of the view of the smokies.

Depends on how close you can park to the actual trail, your age and fitness, and how many days you have been in the area to acclimate to the altitude of 6000 feet. The trail is a strip of pavement straight up the... More
