Wow! This is a strenuous hike! Gorgeous scenery and well worth the 3 1/2 hours it takes to climb to the top. Highly recommend. Go early

This was a great hike! The temperature difference was amazing, be sure to have a coat and even hat/gloves. It was easily 20 degrees colder than down below. We hiked up from Alum Cave. We hiked all 10 miles (5 up and 5 back) in 5.5 hours we only stopped at the top for half an hour to enjoy the... More

Mount LeConte, 500 to 600 million years ago was the bottom of a ancient sea bed. Sediments from that sea bed may be found today on this popular mountain in the Smoky Mountains National Park. Part of the Appalachian Mountains, Mount LeConte was formed in a ancient time when there was very little life hence no fossil remains may be... More

Enjoyed our 2-day hike up to Mt. LeConte. Fall was in the air and the scenery at the top can be spectacular (unpredictable though). We took the Grotto Falls/Trillium Gap path because the Alum trail was closed. We enjoyed the opportunity to make this trek and enjoy Mt. LeConte but I would not choose this trail again. It was ~6.7... More

We hiked up to Mt. LeConte via Alum Cave Trail on Oct. 30th (took us approx 3 hrs), which was a gorgeous day!!!! Spectacular views along the way and lots of great photo shots. We rested in Alum Cave for a little bit before continuing the hike upwards. Make sure to hike up to Cliff Tops (an extra .2 miles)... More

My sister and I hike up to stay a weekend every year. This year by far was the worst. Came up for Halloween w.e. and there was nothing what so ever Halloween related. First time we didn't hang out or socialize with staff because they retreated into their own little group. Walt needs to go. He was rude rude rude... More

We had a terrific day and an awesome hike to Mt. LeConte via Alum Cave Trail. It was a little cold as it was mid forties in the parking lot at the trailhead and mid twenties on top. But, dress in layers and shed ad re-clothe as you need to. This Trail is very popular and was quite crowded even... More

We hiked up the Alum Cave Trail to the top of Mount LeConte. It took a few hours but was well worth the effort. We had lunch (a sack lunch that sucked) in the lodge and even though the lunch was pretty bad, the scenery was terrific. If you hike all the way up there make sure you keep going... More

We started this hike and the early morning light in the dark woods along the creek was beautiful. The hike starts out pretty easy until you get to arch rock. Once up through the rock the trail climbs the rest of the way. This hike in interesting because there are so many fun features and great views. We stopped at... More
