We traveled to The Great Smoky Mountains in late October. We only traveled on the Cherokee Orchard Road but the Roaring Fork Motor Trail was closed because of ice. We explored the Noah Bud Ogle Cabin and barn after a light snowfall. Beautiful, quiet location.

We have driven by this place many times and never took the time to stop. Glad we took the time on this visit. It never hurts to see how our ancestors lived in such harsh conditins and survived. The Ogle name is very prominent in...More

An easy now hike from the parking lot to the homestead and then a short walk to the mill. The house and grounds are accessible and a stark reminder that the goal of the Ogle's was survival, not comfort.

So glad to see the cabin survived the fires. It is the one thing we did like about the Historic Nature Trail drive. We enjoyed walking around and seeing the cabin and surrounding area.

I would say about 30 minutes unless you see the momma bear & her cubs because they are fun and awesome to watch. I won't do any trails when I start having mobility issues due to the tree roots and rocks that are always there. More
