The Cholla Cactus Garden in Joshua Tree National Park is a wonderland of cholla cactus. The garden is located on Pinto Basin Road, which runs through the heart of the park. A sea of green, silver and gold, the cactus garden provides a rare and beautiful experience. Walk from the parking area to the short nature trail, meander through the... More

The garden is beautiful near sunset. But there were little thorny cactus balls on the ground. I accidentally stepped on one and it impaled my foot with at least 5 really thick thorns..was very painful to pull out. Would wonder with caution

This is a nice, gentle walk through a ton of cholla cacti. They don't fence off the cacti, which is great for pictures. However, the guide to the garden clearly says to not pick up cholla cactus bits or brush against them, which I saw many children do. So watch your children closely.

The garden is really good, I am not sure if the garden was made by the park rangers or naturally created that way. If natural, I should make this five stars.

It's more like a cactus field than a cactus garden because it's so big. I had a great time walking around to photograph the garden during sunset. Be careful not to step on the cactus "balls" or let it stick to you, their spines are strong and could hurt you. I stepped on one by accident as I was walking... More

Pretty place, interesting to see. The thorns stick - big time. Even stuck in the rubber on my sneakers and had a very hard time getting them out - very strong spikes that hurt. Stay behind the fences and don't touch! They are very pretty though, especially at sunrise/sunset when the sun hits them from the angle.

There are warning signs but many people seemed to get stuck while we visited. Little puff balls that get dropped by the cacti seem inviting but resist any urge to pick them up and beware where you step because they stick to shoes! We had to use pliers to get some thorns out. With all these warnings you may be... More

We drove the park from North to South (what I would recommend) and the Chollas Cactus was one of our last stops in the park before leaving. The cacti are very unique and a nice path winds through a field of them. There are a few informative signs and I saw some people with an information pamphlet, but mostly, they're... More

If you're driving through the park, there's certainly no reason not to stop for a quick and easy walk through this natural cactus garden dominated by jumping cholla cacti. In fact, these cacti are so numerous that you'll hardly see anything else, making the garden feel like some sort of alien planet. Keep to the path to avoid their sharp... More

The Cholla Cactus garden is a very short walk but the garden itself is really unique and cool to walk around. If you have the time definitely stop to have a look.
