We drove the North Cascades highway from east to west. It was a beautiful day and we loved the drive. Lots of scenic attractions and no commercialism. Do it!

We took a day to drive through the North Cascades National Park, stopping numerous places. A lot of the road is lined with trees so that there is no viewing (except of amazingly tall tree trunks). But where there is something to see, WOW! We...More

We drove through the park and decided to keep going east and then south to Mt Rainier Park. This was a beautiful drive. Reminded us of the drive east out of Yellowstone Park. What a wonderful road.

This drive is just GORGEOUS. Really can't say much else. We drove from Marblemount to Washington Pass and there is always something beautiful to see. The North Cascades are absolutely an under-appreciated National Park gem.

Arrived Wednesday morning. Haze from forest fires blocking views of mountains. Don't waste your time till smoke clears

This is the most scenic and spectacular highway in Washington State, winding through the North Cascades mountains, along several sky-blue-tinted lakes and high passes. Make sure that you allow enough time to pull out at some of the scenic overlooks along the way. In particular,...More

Once you begin to ascend the scenery gets amazing! We made an afternoon trip to Ruby Falls & got back not too late for dinner, making several stops for pictures & breathing. There are deep gorges, some whitewater, waterfalls, mountain ridge views & stunning overlooks...More

The drive through the North Cascades was fantastic. Tall stately trees, Mountain views, river and lake crossings the entire way something new it seemed around each curve in the road. Even the tree area burned by the 2015 fire was interesting because of how it...More

This was the last park we saw in the Washington State and we were somehow disappointed. Diablo lake is very nice, but that´s all, unless you stay for camping and have a boat. There is no food or lodging inside the park, so it is...More

We incorporated the North Cascades Highway through North Cascades National Park into our Pacific Northwest tour because we like to hit as many national parks as possible. But we really didn't know what to expect. Much to our delight, what we found was snow-capped mountains,...More

I'm not sure which reviewer might have said there is a Ruby Falls along highway 20. I double checked my reviews of the area, and I did not mention such. But, there is a Ruby Trail and a Ruby Mountain in that area. There... More

Highway 20 is a beautiful drive with fewer vehicles on it. When the higher elevations do get snow, a certain section is closed off over winter. Your time window for your trip should still work. Check the weather forecasts... More
