Bear Lake is simply beautiful, and is surrounded by a backdrop of Hallett Peak. I believe if you were to hang around this sight all day, you could take hundreds of beautiful pictures each looking very different based upon time of day and location. It's a very easy walk around and a good warmup for a hike to some of... More

We visited Bear Lake in March and thankfully had a nice and sunny Saturday. The roads were clear and the sun was out making for a great day for pictures. Most people seem to get here early in the day, so if you're not an early bird go visit some of the other sights in the park and then see... More

In my two cents...Just Amazing!!!! I visited this place on 21st Jan 2017 when the lake was frozen white as you can see in the pics attached. This lake is best place to go for snowshoeing. One of the must go place if you visit RMNP. Some important things to know are: 1. You may not get the parking space... More

Bear Lake Trailhead is very close to Glacier Gorge Trailhead. Although there is a big parking lot, this is a very scenic trailhead and a popular destination in Rocky Mountain National Park and thus parking spaces are mostly available only during early or late times of the day. You should park at Este Park Visitor Center and take free shuttle... More

My husband and I came as part of our honeymoon-- what a great choice to visit RMNP! This was a great easy hike to get acclimated to the altitude, and a great view as well. It was busy when we first got there around 10:30am but then it seemed as if everyone left. Suggestion: if you don't like crowds go... More

On Bear Lake Road, just off Highway 36, near Beaver Brook, we spotted a group of elk just off the road in the Aspens. There were perhaps 24-36 being watched over by a monster bull and one young bull who was challenging for the affections of a specific cow, who was trying to respond and go with the younger. The... This is a very nice place to hike around the lake in the winter. No snow shoes or she's were needed. Beautiful view of the mountains. The hike around the lake is only about 1 mile.

Another great reason to visit RMNP but try to pick a quiet time to do so ! Parking was hard to come by , even more so for the poor buggers who parked & waited at the earlier shuttle stop ! Don't run out of Season Son !! A long walk ! But the walk up to and around Bear... More

Easy walk, which is nice if you plan on hauling around serious camera gear. Parking lot is very full. Enjoyed lunch at one of the many picnic tables in the parking lot. Beautiful little trout in the stream are very easy to view. This is a great stop for anyone with mobility issues that still want to enjoy the park.
