We loved our stop off at the Red Hills Visitor Center. Our 5 year old LOVED filling out his booklet & receiving his ranger badge. The facility and the views are really incredible!! This is really close to the Desert Museum, so it's convenient to do both on the same day instead of making the trip out twice.

Wow!!! Tons of information and a little movie too! The Best gift shop we have been to in a National Park. Books, maps and more books! Lots of choices of Prickly Pear Cactus...I love the jelly candy. Stuffed Toys of all the interesting animals that live in the park. Stop in ... it is worth it!

It's like a huge forest of cactus plants--very beautiful and strange. Located about 20-25 minutes off the highway and loaded with lots of interesting paths. I went at sunset and enjoyed a beautiful view of the sun setting behind nearby mountains.

Literally cool, if it's a hot day it probably feels like paradise in the desert! This place has great gifts and interesting posters, books, and souvenirs. The movie was a great touch, giving a little history of the area and what to expect. The staff was friendly, offering advice on hiking for my family with back problems. I always recommend... More

I read in other reviews how helpful the Rangers were at this facility. I found the opposite to be true. We waited 5 minutes just to pay the admission fee (apparently there is a special ranger for this and no one else can help). Then we waited almost 10 minutes at the "information area" for some hiking advice. Once a... More

We have visited 13 National Parks in 2016 and we always stop and check out the visitor centers. Stellar view from the back with lines of saguaro cactus banked against the mountains. Gift store had great items and the display of the local wildlife was very informative . Very helpful staff .

The desert displays inside are very worthwhile, and handouts and explanations about potential hikes was great. We did a short 2+ mile hike to an overlook which was superb, but you have to like sand and desert. The gift shop was great too.

Must stop before entering to the park. Staff is very friendly, provides really good information about the park and desert. There is a display about Saguaro fruit and it's harvesting. There is a gift shop too but no coffee or tea. So be prepared.

The building is set on a beautiful site designed to highlight the desert views. Exhibits were very informative, and we enjoyed the meaningful short film in the auditorium. It takes your breath away when the film ends, the curtains open, the screen lifts up and you see the desert outside the window. Although the road is under construction, there are... More
