Loved our visit to Boyden Cavern
We really enjoyed our visit to Boyden Cavern. The Cavern was really beautiful and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. We would highly recommend bringing water shoes (or buying them there) and taking the stream bed exit (you have a choice while inside the cavern). It is really neat to walk through the water in the tight passageways on the way out, although the water is quite cold. The staff was all very nice and they were really good about changing the time of our visit when we got there earlier than expected (and also when we accidentally booked the wrong day online). Boyden Cavern was definitely a highlight of our Sequoia/Kings Canyon trip, and a really great stop along the beautiful Kings Canyon Byway. Just be forewarned that there is a steep, but short, walk up to the cavern entrance.

    Best experience ever!
I really enjoyed this cavern tour. The guide was very informative and did well with the whole group. My favourite part, though, was the wild water exit. Take extra shoes and do it - it's worth it.

    Fun experience!
The tour of the cavern was a great option as we explored the King County scenic byway. Beautiful location along the river. Our guide Stella was delightful. Informative and fun. We chose to walk in the creek on the way out of the tour. Great choice! But be sure to have water shoes or a change of socks/shoes. Highly recommend this tour.

    Definitely Worth the Drive!
Devon, our tour guide, was amazing. I warned him I had balance issues, was high-maintenance, and might need some help before the tour began, and he gladly went beyond expectations to accommodate me! Great destination worth the drive! Actually drive was a surprise bene; IMO scenery way exceeded our expectations, especially as approaching cave. And I grew up in Calif and all that.

    Highly recommend!
Entire experience was fabulous, starting with the amazing scenery on the drive to the cave. At the cave, both parking and check in was easy, the tour left on time, and is about 45-60 mins total which is a good length of time even for younger kids. Our tour guide was so fun and knowledgeable. This was an unplanned trip for us but I’m so glad we did it!

    Fun, interesting, and cool
I found this tour fun and the location very interesting to see and learn about. The cave was nice and cool, which for me was a great way to beat the heat on a summer afternoon. Morgan was my tour guide and I thought that she did a great job.

Beat the heat. Hear a ghost story.
Great side quest if you don't want to hike and you want to beat the heat. Nice and cool. Fascinating scenery. Our guide Morgan was great. If you get her make sure she tells you about the dead body they found in the cave. Oh, and watch your head! I was so worried about where my feet were going I bumped mine twice.

Natural and moderately sized caverns with cool details
Late in posting this -- but we really enjoyed the tour! Boyden is small enough that you don't have to be in immaculate shape to survive the stairs of the tour (like Shasta Caverns). In fact, I don't remember many stairs at all -- so it is more natural than other caverns I have been in. The tour guides were delightful. And If you wanted to, you could exit by walking in water. I had waterproof shoes so it was nice to put them to good use! ;) We actually went in 2021 -- before the road closure issues. But I really don't think the caverns have changed all that much.

Worth the Climb to the Entrance
Ordered tickets on line. Arrived early and they took us in when we arrived. As described, the walk up to he entrance is very steep but not too far, about 7 minutes. It was tough with one railing on the hill side. Half up on the left side and the other half up on the right. Inside it was cool, but we overdressed for freezing. Beautiful, great guide (albert?) filled with interesting information. He used his flashlight to explain the various mineral deposits, etc. Bring a flashlight for your own cool way to see the rock. OK to bring a camera or your phone. Take the water way out if you can, shoes will bet wet, sandles /flipflops must have a back strap. Worth the windy drive down and back up the remarkable Kings Canyon too.

totally worth the time and money
I highly recommend this tour! I am a big geology/minerals/caves fan, while my wife is somewhat claustrophobic, and my son gets bored easily. We all enjoyed it. The cave has an interesting history, an abundance of beautiful formations, and is small enough to be seen in about 45 minutes. We opted for the streambed exit, so we did the entire tour in crocs; while others were going out the way they came in, on paved paths, we walked out 20 feet below, through a shallow (about 3" deep) stream. I've never done that in any other cave tour.

This was a bit of a curvy drive from Three Rivers but totally worth it in my opinion. It’s not everyday you get to explore a crystal cave. It was very easy to find and the check in process was smooth. I suggest wearing closed toe shoes. Our tour guide Ely was fantastic! He made it humorous while providing interesting facts about the cave and its history. He is clearly very passionate about his job and that’s hard to find nowadays. I would highly recommend Boyden Caverns as I’ve toured other caves and this one is right up there with the rest. Thank you Ely!

I am SO glad we were able to book this tour during our recent visit. At first I was apprehensive just because with COVID, we feel more comfortable avoiding anything indoors, but we felt so safe and would have really missed out if we had cancelled. They are taking one tour group at a time and also sanitizing railings upon exiting the cave. Masks are also required on the tour. Stella was our tour guide and she was wonderful, especially with our kids (ages 5 & 8). The tour is the perfect length of an hour and make sure you check the website so you can be prepared to take the Wild Cave exit where you get your feet a bit wet. Our kids thought this was the best experience of our entire trip. I have been to many caverns before, including Mammoth Cave. Even though this is a smaller cavern in comparison, it is still very much worth the time. We loved it!

It was a great experience! We made a reservation online for 12pm, we got there early to make sure we got parking, use the restroom and to check in. The attendant at the register asked if we'd like to take the 1130am tour instead, of coarse we did. Exactly 1130am they called our group of 29 people and started to send us up the path. The path was a little steep but it was a short walk. Made us hot, that when we went into the cavern it felt really nice and cold. It felt good! Our favorite parts of the cavern was seeing the Christmas and the wedding cake. My kids loved the blackout and the idea that we may go back before the season ends to camp in there. Lol. I love that they let us take all the pictures we want and video. They're knowledge of everything seemed legit. We will definitely recommend this small tour of the Boyden caverns to anyone heading out that way.

Visited the cave on a hot summer day, so take your time going up the steep ramp to the cave (the view of the river from the top of ramp were lovely!). Once in the cave area, you can immediately feel the refreshing temperature s from inside the cave; a nice reprieve from the outside temps. Our guide was amazing! Due to the dry conditions this year, we weren't able to see or hear the water gurgling through the bottom of the cave or on the adventure exit. They also did a lights out portion of the tour which was cool! The tour was short but definitely worth the money! Will be going back again.

I don’t know how people can say they didn’t like this tour. I loved it. Stella was our guide and she was amazing, fun, informative. Due to COVID all tours are given with just your group - which is awesome. We had a private, intimate tour and the cavern was really really cool. Especially the ending when we exited thru the creek in the Cavern. I’ve done the Crystal Caverns 2 years ago (it’s closed now bc of COVID) and while that was neat , the hike to the caverns was pretty strenuous and the tour much more sterile. You followed along a concrete foot path. With this tour, some was concreted, some not and you really felt as if you were on an expedition discovering something new. The hike up to the Cavern entrance, while initially daunting to look at, wasnt that bad (Crystal Caverns was far worse). I wouldn’t recommend this tour for families with little kids bc there are areas where I can see them tripping or falling and there is quite a bit of ducking involved. Also given some of the areas we had to squeeze thru , I also wouldn’t recommend this for anyone very heavy. All in all, I highly recommend and this is a definite must do if you’re heading into Kings Canyon.

We were able to visit to the Boyden Cavern this year 2021 on Mother’s Day and the experience was phenomenal! My family (husband and 2 children ages 6 and 11) were greeted by the most hospitable Park ranger type woman in a small shack where we checked in. The shack that sold waters and snacks which we bought and we paid with a card, not sure if that machine always works but it did that day. To get to the cavern you travel up a very steep hill for about 5 minutes and that was a lot of fun for the kids! At the entrance we were greeted by our guide and she was spectacular! She got to know our family and made a lot of food related themed jokes along the tour as if the formations resembled cakes and chicken legs. We learned a lot about the history of the cavern. Sitting in the very dark was a really cool experience as well. A highlight was walking through the creek which is optional at the end of the tour. I would definitely wear water shoes or some sort of strappy water sandal (that’s what we had on for this very reason) The creek was so cold but walking through the cave as if it were wild was totally worth the freezing feet!
At the end of the tour the guide was waiting to say goodbye, wished me a happy Mother’s Day and she even remembered details about our family that made us feel very special.
I would most definitely go on the tour again and recommend that friends and family do the same. Experience the world around us!

We enjoyed our tour of Boyden Cave. It features stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone, pendants, and shields. It is located in the Sequoia National Forest. It was a steep walk leading to the entrance. The view from the top towards the entrance was spectacular. The tour guide mentioned that it closes mid-October through winter. We made a reservation ahead of time which was highly recommended. It was 2 days after Labor Day, and there were only 8 of us on the tour. According to the guide, he had more than 40 per tour during Labor Day weekend.

Great up close and personal cave experience. The steep walk to entrance cave is no joke. Unfortunately we had to get a refund for my older parents as they could not make the walk up. I would say the cave is great for families but hang on to small kids hands as there are low railings. There are spots you must duck under and several spots to squeeze through and might be hard for the elderly or those on the plus size. Even if my parents could have made the walk up they would have had a very hard time squeezing through the openings so just beware. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and taking the walk out through the water exit was definitely fun. Wear water shoes or shoes that can get wet and just be careful of the rocks. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend.

The entire tour was great! Ely did an amazing Job!
I like the part when they turn off the lights and Ely like a magician went from one place to another.
I would love to hear more about the cave.
We didn’t bring any cash for a tip but we were thinking that Ely should have a PayPal square (vemo or similar) to give him a tip there, he was amazing managing a large group and making sure we all get the best experience.

First time in the cavern and I gotta the said the experience was wonderful. I love our tour guy Brianna!
She is fun and extremely informative during the entire trip and I did ended up with some question at the end of the tour and she fulfilled and answered all my cavern curiosity😆
The walking up the cavern is a little steep and I do recommend with small child( like me) bring a baby carrier.
I love the walk up workout tho. I need it. Lol.
Anyways, I feel like Indian Anna Jones in the cavern but without the treasure. But I left with a life time memories which is priceless.
