We have driven Skyline Drive many times over the years. There are always beautiful vistas and incredible mountain views. None of that has changed. However, during our last visit in October 2018, we found the park to be completely overcrowded. At each turn-out, there was...More

We brought out 7 month old puppy with us and we had the best time. Even saw bears right on skyline drive as we were driving. Even though there are lines of cars to get in to the park you find yourselves removed from poeple...More

If you have the time the Skyline Drive is a beautiful ride. There is plenty of wildlife and overlooks. It takes 3 to 3 1/2 hours to drive one way but it's worth every minute. There are a couple of places to stop and eat...More

Skyline Drive is the one of the best managed place in the east coast. The seasonal changes are so addictive that I keeps coming. This time it was dumbly exhausting. I decided to go back to philly on the same day, drove 700+ miles and...More

We went on skyline drive as I'm from New Orleans we don't have mountains there. We had a very nice drive then stopped at the gift shop. Hubby surprised me with a large coffee mug as restaurants only give sample size coffees. Well it's been...More

Driving through the skyline drive was pretty amazing. There was a breeze as we went up into the mountains, beautiful earth sites to see and just a relaxing stroll. We stopped at many different points on the drive and took pictures of the mountain landscape....More

We had a nice peaceful drive on a weekend snaking through semi-dense forest along the top of the Shenandoah mountains. It was quiet, fresh and beautiful. We were expecting a few fall colors, but probably too early for that. There are many (designated) lookout points...More

We went a week too late for the autumn foliage. However it was still a scenic drive through the mountain.

Skyline Drive provides gorgeous vistas and allows visitors to enjoy them at a variety of paces. There are trails of varying difficulties, however there are plenty of pull offs for people just looking to literally drive through. The best part about the latter is that...More

It can be busy at certain viewpoints, but there’s several pull offs to take pictures of the Shenandoah valley. Very pretty when fall foliage is at its peak.

Sorry, all gone. Last big ice/snow storm finished any remnants. Suggest calling their 800 number and key in for any information you need. Is all automated and we use it a log.

It's more a question of time than place. You are most likely to see wildlife at dawn and dusk. Watch the treeline, where the deer like to browse.

Have driven in the dark on Skyline Drive several times. You have to be alert for deer and other wildlife who are out. Be mindful of your speed. The night skies are absolutely beautiful.
