A Must See

If you have never been, put this on your bucket list. The mountains and valleys are just beautiful. We were there in October and just missed the prime color.

It was very beautiful but the only downside was we missed the fall colors. It would have been spectacular if the colors were ayipo there. Will go sometime soon again. Definitely worth going in spring and fall if you love to go hiking.

Skyline Drive is a 105 mile road through the entire Shenandoah National Park in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There is a fee of $20 for a single vehicle and there is a speed limit of about 30 miles per hour. Figure about 3 hours just to drive full length, add time for photo ops and hikes along the way. There... More

A drive along Skyline Drive is a must if you are in the area. Plan to spend an entire day and hike along the way. Or spend several days and camp or stay at a lodge. In the early morning you can see bears walking along the side of the road from your car. There is something to enjoy for... More

for an hours drive, not even portipottis. Sad to not be able to stop at a JOHN as there were none marked. What do the hikers and bicyclist do eh! It is a great ride not not nice to be in a hurry for the $20. cost to go those 32 miles. Saw 2 hawks.

We loved our trip along Skyline Drive. Highlights were the amazing views, learning about the history at the visitor center, millions of gorgeous trees, and seeing a tiny screech owl that one of the rangers was showing in a presentation. We aren't hikers and we didn't go off of the main road, but it was still very enjoyable. Make use... More

Drove the length of Skyline Drive during the peak color season. Stunning colors! The Visitor Center is located at Mile Post 55 and is well equipped to tell the story of how Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive came into being. Plan to spend at least 90 minutes at the visitor center if you want to see all of the... More

We did the Front Royal entry to the Skyline Drive and drive half of the total route. The weather was glorious and the route not too busy, the eatery we popped into was closed so we had to come off the drive and drive into Luray for lunch, not a big deal in the scheme of things. Over the course... More

It is always inspiring and soothing to drive this road! There is a special place...and so close to Metro DC! We have not had the opportunity to experience the entire roadway, but look forward to doing so. One recommendation for those entering from the Front Royal entrance: arrive early to avoid a long line at the admission booth.
