We did a portion of this hike with our 2 children (7 and 9), along with another family. It was recommended that we rent special boots to hike in the water, but we just went in Keen sandals, and they worked just fine once we got used to the flow of the water and the large cobblestones in the riverbed.... We have spent several hours in Narrows. I was told , that SOMETIMES we will have to wade on this trail , but in fact we scarcely got out from the water , which was often above knees . It was wet but funny. Remember that rocks in the water are slick and after rain you cannot see them properly,... More

You must put this adventure on your bucket list! Be sure to rent the appropriate socks and water shoes. We did and it made all the difference. We saw other people walking up the narrows without them and they were struggling. There are many sharp rocks under water and you will do well if you have the right gear.

The narrows are amazing and a must see. I can't wait to go again. The beginning is a little crowded, but the further you go, the more sparse it gets.

My wife and I are 40 years old in average shape. Had a great February hike in narrows. Rented dry suit bibs urethane socks and canyon shoes from Zion adventure company. My wife normally freezes but kept fine in this gear. Only thing was she wished she had put on gloves. Didn't like the dry suit jacket feel so we... More

As part of my annual Las Vegas family reunion I rented a car and drove the the park. I found the drive very relaxing and made numerous photo stops along the way. The park itself at this time of year was very light in traffic. During his period you can drive the scenic route and park pretty much anywhere you... More

Beautiful hike, although didn't make it as far as desired because there was a thunderstorm brewing in the distance. Be sure to take shoes that work well for hiking across rocky river bottoms

We (myself in late 40, my 10 and 15 year old daughters) did the hike on Dec 27 2016. We rented dry suits with Zion Adventure the night before so that we could start our hike early in the morning. It was a beautiful freezing sunny day right after the Christmas snow storm and CFS forecast of the river was... More

We visited Zion in October of 2015. The experience of hiking the Narrows coupled with the ease of access provided by the park's transportation and amenities make it one of the more accessible nature adventures (both in time commitment and physical activity) in the country. Imagine if there was a 20 minute shuttle ride that got you to the bottom... More

This was the best of many great experiences we enjoyed visiting the Utah National Parks. We were fortunate to have moderate flows on the Virgin River that runs through the Narrows. During rain storms or high flows the Narrows could be dangerous but usually it is quite safe. Just check with a park ranger before venturing in. We acquired waders,... More
