Nice but not a "must see"

Took this road at the end of our Utah vacation; we had already seen Zion's main canyon, Bryce and Capitol Reef, so I think we were a little jaded. It was nice to be able to be... read more

If time is short, explore the main canyon in Zion instead. It is a lovely drive, but it simply doesn't compare with the main canyon in Zion. There are considerable less people over here. We also did the Taylor creek hike. I would say the same thing about that hike. It was nice, but most of the hikes in the... More

Took this road at the end of our Utah vacation; we had already seen Zion's main canyon, Bryce and Capitol Reef, so I think we were a little jaded. It was nice to be able to be away from the crowds, and the view were good, but not spectacular. Unfortunately we did not have time to try to Taylor Creek... More

As a road view goes, it's hard to beat this. We were in our way to the arches and we saw lots of folks stopping just to take in the view from the pull off. Everyone seemed to love the view.

The curves in this road is most ideal for motorcycle riders. A wheel drives and advanced traction systems are must if visited during Nov - Mar. Extremely scenic vistas, good viewpoints all along the road. Canyons are often windy, drive very slowly if you are in a small car and passing the bridges.

We were staying in Springdale and had done several days of the main canyon and wanted a slower, less physically taxing day. So, we headed over to the west side of Zion to Kolob Canyon. Stop at the Visitor's Center and your park pass will get you through (or pay $30 fee for a 7-day pass). Drive on up the... More

Just off of I-15. This National Park has an entry fee of $30 if you are hiking or just driving the 5 mile road up to the end and then coming back. The scenery along the way is similar, but different than in the main canyon at Zion. There are numerous pull-offs along the way to take photos or just... More

If you are west of Zion on Route 15, take a drive into Kolob Canyons. The road offers wonderful views and it provides a glimpse into what one would experience in Zion Canyon.

After visiting Zion's main canyon, we didn't expect too much of Kolob Canyon. What a great surprise to find Kolob very different from Zion but also with spectacular views. Kolob is well-worth a stop. Highly recommended.

You check into the ranger station, then it is only a 5 mile drive to the end of the road with several pull outs, parking lots, and magnificent scenery. We were there mid September and found plenty of parking everywhere. The views are awesome, as good as in Zion National Park.

When we arrived at Zion, we drove through the east entrance in order to get to our hotel that was about 18 miles from the other side of the park. We were not planning on a big hike in the park that day so we decided to drive to Kolob Canyon. It was a lovely drive with different vistas than... More
