About
Northern Ireland's first award winning craft gin and Irish whiskey distillery. Our small batch philosophy ensures that every aspect of our gin meets our exacting vision. Everything is crafted and perfected by hand. Our craft distillery is located in the stunning Rademon Estate, Crossgar. 18 miles south of Belfast. Our onsite shop is open most days until 5.30pm - please call for weekend opening times, as these may vary. We also operate a bar onsite, for drinks on our terrace. As we are a fully working distillery all tours must be pre-booked.

Personally I think this tour was disappointing, on arrival I was impressed by the visitors centre, the tour itself while being informative lasted 20/30 minutes max, so when you arrive your given a menu to buy drinks, when the tours starts you are given a BRIEF history of the estate, you are then taken to the distillery and given an rundown on the in and outs of the gin wart and whiskey process, this is fine, your are taken back to the visitors centre were there is a gin waiting for you, the gin master class as it’s called is basically how to pour tonic into your gin, really, you are left again to buy more dink, should you wish. Oh and spend money in the shop, you do get to keep your lovely glass, the staff are friendly the venue is lovely but, to call it a master class is a joke, the tour needs more thought, it took longer to get there than the actual tour took and personally I felt it was more geared towards raising money than being a proper tour. It isn’t overly expensive but there are better tours, and I find some comments laughable about how great an afternoon there tour was, mine certainly wasn’t an afternoon.

My husband and I called up with our two children for a mid afternoon drink. We sat outside where we could enjoy the lovely view. The bar is beautiful and we were greeted by Craig who introduced himself and gave us a menu. We were a little hesitant about taking our children however from the moment we arrived Craig interacted with our children and made us feel very welcome. I was unsure what to order and Craig kindly provided recommendations along with the history of the cocktail he recommended, he was very knowledgeable and very welcoming. I had intended to try a few different cocktails however after tasting the Bramble cocktail I decided to reorder it. Craig also let me know that they sell Bramble bottled which meant I was able to purchase a bottle to enjoy at home. My husband also really enjoyed his craft beer. We will have to call again to try the other selections on offer. Our afternoon drink was very different from the usual mid afternoon drink, it was more like an experience from being greeted to leaving. With the current covid restrictions it was good to see toilets could be accessed from outside without having to go into the bar. A Shortcross sanitiser was also provided on the table and the pen for the locator form was sanitised before handing it to me. Even simple details such as sanitising hands before handing over the receipt and coming to the door to say bye as we left, the level of service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

My wife and mother in law absolutely loved their recent after tea. Every facet of the mini was top notch and they even went to the trouble of making mock tails for the driver. It was the best afternoon tea they had ever experienced and they would love to come back. Well done to all the team for a brilliant experience and many thanks.

Very proud to be your first visitors since Feb 2020. Thank you for the cocktails and conversation. The history of the distillery was very informative and the knowledge of the different gins was just as good.
We will be returning when we visit Northern ireland again. We look forward to tasting the new whiskey when it launches.
All I need now is to buy a new cabinet for the gins we plan on buying. This especially a hit as first time gin drinkers who have found the perfect gin to start on.

We visited for a tour of distillery and tasting for our friend's birthday- Craig was our guide and was so knowledgable and lovely! We never realised how small the team was at Shortcross and it's great to have someone who know all the details of the process talking you through it. So impressed how they source everything so locally. Good to get some tips on how to pour the perfect G&T and we really enjoyed sitting on after for a couple of gin cocktails and some charcuterie- would really highly recommend and looking forward to visiting agin soon!

WOW what a brilliant night!!!
I went with a friend for a night of cocktails and wreath making and we weren't disappointed. As always the cocktails at Shortcross were amazing and the staff are just so nice and friendly, you really are made to feel you are with friends and family!
The wreath making was amazing - the florists had everything prepared so well and helped every step of the way - you just couldn't go wrong. Luxury wreath is no understatement, what we came away with was the most luxurious wreath that we would have paid 3 times as much for in a shop.
Thanks to all for a great night.

We went here for our birthdays as something different to do and it did not disappoint. We arrived into the lovely estate and beautiful new building the tour was held in. Craig was so lovely, offered to make cocktails while we waited (which others said were amazing). The tour itself was very interesting and showed just how much thought and attention goes into making the product. The gin tasting was really informative and Craig made it good fun. Dipping the bottles ourselves and adding the label made for a great takeaway from the tour. The shop had loads of local produce to choose from too. Overall it was a great experience, will definitely be back! Thanks!

We went whilst visiting family around the festive period and really enjoyed it.
Knowledgeable tour from one of the owners and a g&t masterclass.
We were thrilled to find the whole place accessible as one of our group was in a wheelchair and accessibility was not boasted about on the website so we didn't have high hopes they would be able to complete the whole tour.
Would definitely recommend for the gin lover!

I would highly recommend the Gin Discovery Experience. It's such a fun way to spend an afternoon! Firstly, the estate is in such a beautiful setting, nestled away in woodland. We were warmly welcomed by Kerry, who was so fun, well-informed, and made the most yummy cocktails! Kerry started the tour off by giving us a history of the estate and how Shortcross was inspired by the surroundings and local ingredients. Then, we were taken through to the actual distillery section, where Paul gave us an excellent guide of the distillery process, answering questions and providing tasters. The whole tour was great craic, well organised and informative. After the tour, Kerry took us through a tasting class, where we made a delicious gin and tonic. Following this, we labelled up our own souvenir signature full-size gin bottles. The gin and the venue are fabulous, but it's the amazing staff who really make this experience so special! 😍

We received such a warm welcome and as we were the only two on the tour received total VIP experience, although the staff assured us everyone got this experience. Our cocktail on arrival was delicious and the staff explained that the garnish had been picked from the estate and the elderflower champagne had also been made using flowers from the trees in forest area. The tour was excellent and the staff are super knowledgable, what they don’t know about gin and whiskey isn’t worth knowing! The ultimate G&T was delicious and getting to wax our own bottle to take away and add our own touches to the label made for a really enjoyable day.
Everything has been done so well with the Covid restrictions and the staff are truly A*, will definitely be back to try some of the new tours and events planned, definitely a brilliant present from my daughter.
